One of the best episodes and best seasons of top gear, ever.
Remember that in quake nothing is simplified (everything is in CoD) and that both the game and the gametype (duel with items) is much more complex than anything else on the market today.
That means someone that doesn't play the game doesn't appreciate not even 10% of what's going on. Even most everyday players can't.
And it has to be said QL is in the end the only game of this genre (deathmatch, arena, unrealistic fast paced shooter) that has a healthy playerbase. All the rest are dead, so just go to QL because in others it's gonna be difficult finding matches.
In Q3 the vanilla (standard) maps were quickly dropped out by players. For example in this QL tournament it's a 5 map pool and none of them came with Q3.
Also the weapon balance and overall gameplay is refined in QL.
Q3 itself is kind of dead really. If you are talking about QL specifically, that's matchmaking.
In QL the best way for looking who are the best players and who you should play with, according to your skill level, is to use the elo system on www.qlranks.com . Consider it only really works for duel. not the other…
Finally (and sorry for sort of spamming), there's quake to watch literally every day of the week, because the community stepped up and put prize money tournaments on weekdays and on weekends.
The best matches of yesterday (Thursday) were the two clashes between rapha (US) and evil (Russia). Finals are tomorrow (Saturday).
BTW, the exact game isn't Quake III but Quake Live, which is a (almost) f2p played on any browser. Can't be easier and cheaper to start playing.

Also, try the server filter "all populated" (shows more servers) and more locations than your whereabouts (anything below 80 ping is more than playable).
Now that I have watched the whole episode, it is one of the best in recent years. Good from start to finish.
The "Chris Harris rip-off segment" was quite good this week.
Beer's complaint with Fish
I googled the guy a bit and now it feels like I made the wrong life decisions. What a lifestyle he has.
Did anyone save that picture at least?
Completely on-topic: Some time ago (about two months) a new reviewer posted on the main site of Jalopnik a featured article with some photos of himself (short guy) and some girl inside the new S class, which were probably the very first photos available of the actual car that weren't released by Merc itself.
I'm still…
The current GT-R is miles more expensive than the first year of the R35. Now it does burn wallets and it competes with a different tier altogether, making it a lot less attractive.
But yeah, nowadays Honda isn't worth mentioning in car enthusiasts conversations. It just isn't what it used to be and in the US only one…
Honda used to be ahead of its competition (on the same price bracket) and some of its cars were stuff of dreams. Now it's behind and most of what they offer is surpassed by other brands.
Concretely, I don't see a single reason why anyone would buy the new NSX, current prototype.
with a touch of LFA.
1.- Costs will never be as low as making a FWD car.
On that last regard, people forget the S2000 is the car used by the 'villain' of fast and furious 1 ("too soon junior") and the girl at the beginning of ff 2.
