trolls in SL, nothing to see here
It was probably the hundreds of uninformed, biased and ignorant articles that usually are written about it.
I could say there is as many creeps and weirdos in Xbox Live/ PSN / Steam just as well.
Because Second Life lets you do a lot of things already without too much work required, its already a pretty stable platform with a myriad of options available and thus it requires little advertisement to get people to play in sims like this.
SL has been improved in a variety of ways in the last few years, it looks…
Well some people donate although that is not a stable way on keeping a sim alive, but it helps.
I believe some people have their regular world jobs and just use SL for entertainment and their creative outlet and thus, sims like this are created.
Some of my friends on SL have their own businesses there, so all of their…
It has a lot of potential and uses, more than most people realize, its not just about “sex” or “dress up”.
Thats the beauty of it all, you can use it for whatever you like, as a business, as entertainement, for exploring your creativity, for socializing, education, etc etc.
Im actually planning on doing a video series…
Im right with you there aisling, I turned 8 years old in SL last month and it always grinds my gears how little research is done to properly study or portray the SL community, usually it is in a very ignorant and negative way.
ROE is definitely not the first of its kind, but if this at least catches people’s attention…
The furry you see there is a cat avatar, one of the first mesh avatars around called the Blue Galaxian Cat, it has since been modified with hundreds of new skins and additions so you can customize it at your leisure.
Also, SL has some basic, free mesh avatars you can use which are good enough if you are a starting or…
It looks really good today, yeah its an old program but it can still pull of some nice looking visuals, flickr is a good place to see how creative people are in there in terms of photography.
Unless you are a graphics whore (like most PC master race assholes) who only care about “omg graffixxx”
And just to expand a little about this subject, I will link some videos from the Drax files which is a series of videos about the different uses and applications of Second Life in a positive way:
There is a store in Second Life that sells mesh items that you cannot modify (except add different texture skins to it) and that is one of them, the store is called The Mesh Project.
Usually those mesh heads go around for 5000 linden dollars which is roughly $20.
March marked my anniversary #8 on Second Life.
Ive come to realize that most of the gaming community including the media (yes, like you Kotaku) have been very quick to judge and usually paint in a very bad light the Second Life community, through multiple articles in the past.
“Second Life is nothing but sex”
“People…
Ive been playing mostly the same games for a few months now: Call of Duty AW, Dragon Age Inquisition, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Diablo 3.
But recently I got Life is Strange and so far I like it, but you can easily see the influence from Telltale’s The Walking Dead.
It took me around a year to understand what SL is and how it worked back in 2007 when I started, couple of years later of sticking with the platform I learned how to use it.
There have been many fixes and newer versions of the platform to accommodate a more “social network” look and feel to it, right now its probably…
Was Home a platform to build, sell and socialize?
I doubt it, because thats what SL is, a virtual sandbox that lets you build, sell and socialize, you do with it whatever you want there are young and old people there because they see the potential of it and some use it as a way to make money.
Considering your quite…

How is SL a mess? unless you don’t know how it works, you can easily grasp its concept and ideas if you are patient enough.
Trust me, Ive been there for 8 years
Any Kotaku crews on PS4? :)
I got a free $10 code from PSN the other day so I decided to get the first episode of this with it, hope it doesn't disappoint.
The best thing about old FPS is that you actually had to explore the levels, nowadays exploration is kept to the minimum and only involves getting some intel side item to fill in the story.
Way too many MOBAs these days, everyone wants to be the next LoL.
