Technically the $39 million was the combined amount they lost on both the Vidal biopic and his work on House of Cards (it’s clearer in the linked article than in this one), so presumably the movie only accounted for half—maybe 2/3?—of that. Still likely too much.

I saw this movie in a theater opening weekend, and literally the only thing I remember about it is the shot of Taye Diggs’ ass in the shower—and the excited response from the audience. Loved having the female (and gay male) gaze catered to for once (even if I do remember thinking his ass was disappointingly flat.).

Paget Brewster came out and stated in her interview with the AV Club that CBS never demanded budget cuts. That was just the cover story. Someone (gee, I wonder who) point-blank demanded “new women.”:

I didn’t read your response until now because I have a life, and I only skimmed it because, as expected, it was full of rage. You may be less angry if you actually read what people wrote instead of projecting what you think they’re saying. I never actually said what I think about the show, I certainly didn’t say

You should probably offer that reality check to any number of the haters celebrating the fact that the show is ending production next year (for instance, the author of io9’s article titled “Freedom” or plenty of commenters above). Given that, yes, the show will continue to air reruns around the clock for decades to

I was going to reply with a “My work here is done!” gif, but considering the most popular comment on this article goes straight to Godwin’s Law and compares Parsons to Hitler, not to mention I received this response in the grays, it would seem neither my scolding nor my sarcasm were as severe as some people so richly

Perfect. I wish I would have known about that. I would have posted it on that ridiculous io9 article yesterday celebrating the show ending. I hope someone did.

Hooray! In a shitty world in really shitty times, a show that managed to provide 20-something minutes of entertainment and escapism for millions of people around the world each week is finally ending! What a glorious day for people who don’t watch it to celebrate others no longer being able to watch something they

That Entertainment Weekly article doesn’t really say anything. Deadline’s story is more detailed:

Rebecca Ferguson has been cast in the role.

This should be higher. The original piece is far more comprehensive.

According to the early reports, the credited co-writer, Olivia Milch, wrote the original script, or early drafts. Ross presumably made enough changes, or worked with her on it enough, to earn a co-writer credit. (As to why a man directed it, this makes it sound like it’s because Ross and Soderbergh are friends. Too

For what it’s worth (and for anyone who hasn’t seen it), someone who claimed to have worked on the show commented on Jezebel’s article weeks ago, and said the whole production was a shitshow, that Hurwitz is a nightmare too, and that they witnessed Tambor’s meltdown on Walter: http://jezebel.com/1826276908

It’s probably an awards strategy. The eligibility period for this year’s Emmys ends May 31, so they have to get the show (and a certain number of episodes) out by then to qualify. By saving a chunk of episodes for later in the year, that makes them eligible for next year’s Emmys. Two seasons of eligibility from one

CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl elaborated further, saying “...” which is just about her reading the numbers,

That reading really isn’t supported by the movie. Paltrow’s character wasn’t in any way what society usually tells us is attractive, yet the movie clearly believed she deserved love, and she got it in the end, not because of any changes she made, but because he stopped being a dipshit. The message was that the shallow

Agreed. I saw Shallow Hal three times. Not because it was that great (it wasn’t; it was actually really slow) but because I found the ending so cathartic. When he sees her at the end as she really is, and he tells her she’s beautiful, and he obviously means it, I burst into tears. But then, I’m not one of the

I’ve been looking at photos of the protests, and it was hard not to notice that all the employees in the store were white.

Do you mean Amram and D’Arcy Carden? Or was Sircar confused too?
