Aha!  Good to know.  But I swear I read a story on here around a year ago that said something about some sort of regulations being relaxed, shortly whereafter Conan O'Brien mentioned in passing on his show that he was allowed to say "shit" now.  But now that I'm actually looking into it, it seems like I must be

You didn't mention my favorite part: the egg salad sandwich-stealing flashback that turned out to be a clip from a movie called "30 Minutes Earlier."  That bit built upon itself so perfectly; it really had me on the floor.

Absolutely.  Physically and comically they're neck-and-neck, but Gillian's more earnest disposition and her bookishness make me much fonder of her.  Sorta my dream woman.

"Shit" is okay for cable TV now; I think the FCC made that change a little less than a year ago.  And IFC has even more latitude with that stuff, being a semi-premium channel.

Yeah, that's an awful trailer.  No idea what kind of movie this is supposed to be.  But Saoirse Ronan is gorgeous, so I'll probably watch this if and when it airs on HBO or Showtime.

@avclub-7908fdeb815a9456c2613f3bc84de1e4:disqus Bah, I guess I shouldn't comment on these reviews if I can't pay close enough attention to remember plot points like that.  Thank you.

I agree about Abby and Voight, and I said some of the "fixer" stuff is cool (i.e., Ray and Avi taking care of business), so I think I could be more wrong.  I disagree about the brothers.  But you'll have to explain why Ray's son is cool if you want me to believe that you're not just trolling.

Oh, I missed that.  I was wondering where she'd gotten those bags if not at the register.  Still, I think she was the one who drew attention to Abby while she was walking out.

I think that point about tonal disconnects is really one of this show's most significant failings.  I think that, within most any given scene, the show does a pretty decent job of maintaining an atmosphere, but then you've got those jarring shifts between scenes, practically between genres, and that atmospheric

Shoplift.  I think Abby was subtle enough to get away with it, because she only walked out with shoes on, but Deb walked out with like four full shopping bags.

Yeah, especially after he went and stole the microphone from that first guy, I'm pretty sure the rest of the audience would not have been inclined to get on his side, and certainly not over that marginally interesting "movie pitch."

As far as I know, there's only one of them who might fit the first half of that description.

Love the name. The concept sounds typically garbagey, though.

All three different people.  I thought A and C were the same person for such a long time… was a real bummer when I found out they weren't.

Oh my god.  The cast has been compromised.

Wow, totally missed that.  My mistake.

I'm pretty fond of the music in this series.  And I'm enjoying the series overall apparently more than any of you, but I certainly agree that Ray is too much of a cipher, which has a way of undermining any potential empathy.  Still, I have the patience to keep watching and just take for granted that that'll be

Don't know what's so hard to understand about the Abby thing.  People in her situation are always going to act kind of crazy, given the tension between an inability to fully discuss her troubles with anyone, thanks to the illegality of Ray's work, and the desperation to do so and relieve the stress of a situation in

I thought that "We all die" line was quite good, or at least very well-delivered by Gould.  Voight's "Ain't that the truth" sort of torpedoed it though.

Was that the wrong priest?  I don't think that's true.  It's a problem because the FBI linked Mickey to the crime, but it actually was the right priest, the one that molested Bunch. Or else I missed something pretty significant.
