But we still The Descent, right?

I really enjoyed this. It reminded me a bit of Afflicted, with considerably smarter and more interesting characters. And they made a decent *attempt* at scientific plausibility, which is the most one can realistically expect. Now I need to investigate "The Endless"…

A good case, well argued. Thanks again, AV club!

I enjoyed this at the PIFF earlier this year. Haunting and strange are good descriptions. Perhaps it wasn't intended to be a mystery to be "solved", but I enjoyed trying to figure out what the heck was going on. Great casting, acting, and budgeting too; this didn't feel like a budget-constrained film.

When you've got Reagan hair, you're going to look like Reagan pretty often.

That's a good idea:

It is driving me bonkers.

New Horizons just took some cool pictures of the PlutoNetlightClub. I think I can see your house, Betty!

This wouldn't have been my guess as the second movie adaptation of Herbert's work (I'd have gone with The White Plague or Hellstrom's Hive, I think), but I look forward to the outcome.

Have Blake's eyebrows ever changed over the course of an episode before? In this one they change to "angry" when he first starts roid-raging, then "inverted" when he is totally strung out, then back to normal for the fantasy sequence.

I actually didn't care for "Koontz is coming" either, but this one? [Enthusiastic clapping]

Loved this one. A story like this needs a tight focus on the converging downward trajectories of a few people, so it's actually better with a partial cast. The unexpected miracle cure fakeout was awesome.

This is a terrible movie.

Hmm. What job are you applying for?

This is probably too obvious to be worth mentioning, but surely "Seaplane!" is a reference to the ZAZ classic "Airplane!". I didn't notice any other connections between the two, mind you.

The first time I watched this I didn't catch the fact that the "false alarm" premonition of "Golden Lady / Fly Away / Boom Boom" was actually quite accurate.

There should be a prize for using the word 'nebbish' five times in an article.
