DONT PANIC

I still pretty much hate the opening credits. I see what they're going for with the strange jazz-ish music and the weird editing, but I just can't bring myself to like the mixing of real life footage and sound clips/footage from the show. Mixing parts of a sex scene in there and shit, I just can't bring myself to like

Agree about Lake Bell. Always found her to be really beautiful, last episode didn't hurt either.

I like Domingo, but that's mostly because I really like the actor (that's Kid Cudi, right? Not a big fan of his music).I just think he plays the character with a lot of charisma.

Totally agree about this. I liked the first season of the show, but this season has been fantastic so far. The show just plain looks and sounds good, I really like all the main actors, but Eddie Kaye Thomas has been the stand out for me so far. It'll be interesting to see if he loses some of his money, and where that

The best example of a critical acclaimed cable drama without the usual anti hero angle I can think of is Six Feet Under. Flawed, but mostly good people.

If they do, that's lazy as fuck (it's not like the press to be lazy, that's for sure!). This show was in the works long efore Rahm Emanuel even announced that he was running. It's more a "blank" mayor representing the general corruption of Chicago, I guess, with some old school Daley era (both father and son)

The behind the scenes footage makes it seem like there's two people just making the show in MS Paint. Seriously, it looks cheap as hell.

The only thing I hate about season 6 is the two(?) dream episodes. People can talk about metaphores  all they like, to me those episodes were boring as shit and felt like time fillers. Other than that I liked the season, but I'm still not sure about the ending.

Those numbers are also not the full story. If I'm not mistaken they're from the premiere of those shows, and doesn't take into account DVR numbers, re-runs and HBO GO. Because HBO doesn't have ads and make most of their money on subsciptions, those numbers count just as much to them as the premiere numbers. The demo

I started watching that show because of this comment section. Didn't know that the show even existed, which says a lot of HBO's lack of ads for the show when it was on (I've seen pretty much every scripted HBO show, give or take). Loving it so far.

Well, The Good Wife is only "low-rated" by CBS' standards, on more or less any other network it would've been as safe as it is on CBS. I think NBC is a better example, a show like Community can survive there with pretty shitty ratings because the network really doesn't have any hits…so they need the positive buzz from

Yeah, the ad campaign basically killed the show. Seriously, why did every fucking ad for the show (before it began, at least) include a big fucking terrier running around, with the two actors in the background? That show could easily have found a big enough audience on FX if people actually knew that it wasn't the

Eh, I don't know. It all comes down to subjective taste, to be sure, but of the programming HBO has right now I really enjoy GoT, Boardwalk, Treme, Eastbound & Down, Curb (hope LD agrees to another season!), Bored to Death, Life and Times of Tim and How to Make It In America (not many will agree with me here though).

Yeah, for sure. It has a lot of buzz going for it, and a crossover appeal (Parks & Rec, blah blah) that fantasy stuff normally doesn't have. Just from my own experience, people I know that don't normally care about "high quality TV" is way into GoT.

They still pretty much do. But on the flipside, HBO's sets are always well made. Rome season 1 is still my favourite looking non-special edition dvd set with that whole cover made of wood thingy.

Thanks for mentioning Life and Times of Tim. I consider myself quite the TV geek, but had never heard of this show (HBO has never really promoted it). Watched the first two episodes now, and I'm loving it. Dry, awkward humor, awsome!

Well, he would never have gotten a full season, but more like a couple of 2 hour movies to tie it up (or six episodes? I think the movies), but he had an "all or nothing" attitude towards it.

Yeah, the HBO documentaries are usually very good. It helps that they have a good team of filmmakers and can pretty much do anything and piss off anyone, since it's on premium cable where ad money means jack shit.

Looks interesting on the topics alone, thanks!

Thanks. I'm geeky enough to enjoy most of that, so I'll give a few of those a try! I've always enjoyed the personalities on the Bombcast (followed a couple of them when they were still at Gamespot), so that's the main reason I listen to it.
