aw man, I remember that song! Vaguely!

I would counter that she has really REALLY good bridges in all her songs. And there are often painfully sincere lyrics that tug at my old Morrissey-loving heartstrings. Just my humble opinion.

meh, you've gotta find inspiration somewhere. I don't really want to hear a song about the bagel she had this morning.

yeah, it's kind of like if you're secretly a terrible person but you pretend to be good, and you live your entire life as a fake-good person insincerely doing good deeds, you ended up being a good person after all. (whoa, did I just write a short story?)

hey man cool it, some people like Alvin and the Chipmunks. I recall watching something with girl chipmunks and they had a toy full of diamonds, and it was a pretty good cartoon. Plus, that Christmas song is great.

Alvin and the Chipmunks are …fictional. But they were created by an artist.

dude, he didn't say 'painter', he said artist. Musicians fall under that category. As someone who has written multiple albums' worth of songs, sings, and plays guitar, I don't know how you could deny that she's a musician. Which is a form of artist.

she has more than one song. it's not just "shake it off". They all have different messages.

her song was deemed misogynist because she's still defining her physical self worth based on men's approval. That makes sense to me. It's not about being happy with yourself because you have self-esteem, it's about men still thinking you're hot when you have a big butt and THAT's why you like your body.

Lord Anthony by Belle and Sebastian

man, I totally love Kid Rock. Not his actual music, but there's this video of him surprising a fan of his with Down Syndrome on his birthday, and it is just… very touching.

to be fair, Belle and Sebastian have their fair share of songs about girls wanting boyfriends. Like Le Pastie de la Bourgeoisie. Which is, of course, leagues ahead of Tay's music in every way, but that's just cuz B&S are so great :D

Maybe we can add Camera Obscura to the list :)

what kind of masochist would read everything else you typed in that self-aggrandizing post?

…once upon a dream!

huh, I'd say her song "You Belong with Me" has incredibly awkwardly specific (in an adorable way, which I would think were too painfully dorky to commit to paper if I were a songwriter) lyrics. "She wears high heels, I wear sneakers, she's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers" like… yikes. I love that song for

wut

yeah, but she signed a record deal at 15. Her 10 years in the biz have been young years.

Haha. I don't think "she needs it".

While you've been getting down about all the liars and dirty cheats in this world,
you could have been getting down to this… standard… chorus break!
