I thought the kids were in trouble
I thought the kids were in trouble
All three of those non-album songs are so good, which is interesting considering they're considered such an album band.
The first time I listened to it through, it was the last two songs that really drew me in. Then when I listened to it the second time, the second chorus/bridge of "Demons" absolutely floored me. Now I'm honestly enjoying the whole thing. I was always gonna like this album, but damnit if it isn't just as solid as I'd…
This may have already been mentioned, but on his tumblr this morning Gaiman basically said that he'd written a TON of stuff for this episode, and a lot got cut:
I love both, and actually think both work as costuming for young eleven vs old eleven. The tweed marks his basic nature best but he seems a more commanding figure in the purple overcoat. I honestly think Smith even moves a bit differently in the new clothes.
Can we replace Ewan McGregor with Eddie Izzard? He's got the cunning use of flags. And he can back it up with his gun.
I instantly thought of the first Spanish Inquisition sketch from Monty Python. Always started with the trouble at the mill……
I read this book in a philosophy class a few years ago, and thought it was absolutely brilliant. It's too bad the adaptation doesn't measure up, because the underlying themes in the book run DEEP.
Loved this episode deeply. The only thing I missed was the utilization of whatever humor could've come out of how I would imagine Dan's legs felt after working out on that Pilates machine. I was impressed he could even move.
I wish I wasn't as curious as I am about River's inevitable exit, and whether or not it relates to Clara. Setting myself up for a fall, I know.
Looks like next week we're finally getting a shot of that sexy swimming pool. Sometimes I think the TARDIS might actually be my favorite character on this show.
And while she seems to like the Doctor as a person, she isn't overly enamored with his whole 'jump in the TARDIS and escape' lure. Even with her "I'm not happy" line, I think she's more demanding than what we've seen in a while. Quite a bit like Donna, now that I think about it.
I even get the feeling that, in a way, the Doctor cares less for the modern Clara he's been traveling with than the other two Claras he'd met before. I wonder which one he sees as 'real'.
I'm really enjoying this season not only on an overarching level, but also on a week to week basis. Which is brilliant, and not something I could have said for a while. It seemed like for the past season and a half I've just been judging each episode on how upset it made me feel.
Had a similar thought when I realized that one of the biggest albums in my childhood was Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American". Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker too, but that's a totally different story.
And hopefully the guy she made eye contact with as she walked out knew there were things baking, otherwise she also might've also just left the place to burn to the ground. What a dark turn
And in the new testament: Emoji's
It would make reading the Bible a little bit of a different reading experience if you imagined all of the Lord's statements as ending with a winky face.
Yep, the flip side of Clara getting the time thing is that it kind of lazily has her totally up to speed without giving her anything that's particularly distinct from the Doctor. I guess I'm still just always happy to have a companion that doesn't follow the tendencies of uselessness of the RTD era.
Yeah, it was definitely easier to enjoy on a scene-to-scene basis, and it provided a nice showcase for the leads, and that probably made it easier for me to forgive some of the overarching things that didn't really work.
