I would like to take this opportunity to declare my undying love for Wall of Voodoo in general and for Call of the West in specific.

So long as source material isn't taken from the tell-all book that Henry Bushkin wrote. What a piece of crap that was.

+1 for James Buchanan. I read something once that when it came to the slavery question, he felt very strongly that everybody was right, and thus tossed that hot potato around until Honest Abe came to office. And what, a month later? Fort Sumter and you know the rest.

Just wanted to say this was the best Inventory ever! Thanks AV Club!

My God, that's brilliant.

Cool Story Bro: When Hollywood Video went out of business a few years ago, they had a liquidation sale. I don't generally buy DVD's, but in this case I picked up "Salo" (Criterion edition!) and "Cannibal Ferox".

I'm 49th or so in line for "Power of the Dog" at my library - on 17 copies - and it can't get here fast enough. I haven't read any Winslow except "Death and Life of Bobby Z" and "Savages" and they were both a lot of fun. I thought he might be the heir apparent to Elmore Leonard's legacy, but after some reflection it

Great stuff. I like DFW's non-fiction much more than his fiction. "Consider the Lobster" is great too.

Do it. If you like that sort of thing, also check out "Remembering Satan" by Lawrence Wright. (And then check out anything by Lawrence Wright. The guy is amazing.)

On my nightstand and being read concurrently:

Gerg, separating the wheat from the chaff for Replacements fans.

I think this is right: the guys in the band and/or their fans were too drunk to say "replacements", so they tried "placemats", which was shortened to "'mats".

Ah, nice! Thanks for the correction. I got the name wrong but the band right.

Great list for a great band.

"Feelyat!"

No you aren't.
(I'm logging in for the first time in months just to say that.)

http://www.channel4.com/pro… - I'll watch this when I get home, honestly I am pretty pumped up to see the entire series.
Thanks David Sims and the AV Club for reviewing cool stuff that I'd otherwise have no idea was out there.

The more I learn about Rob Zombie, the more I like him.
And where's Binky? This is right in her wheelhouse!

Hmmm.
