Count me as another person who wouldn't have latched onto this show (and pushed it on all my friends) if not for the very strong reviews from this very site. I was aware of the existence of the show from TV and magazine advertisements, but absolutely none of it made Hannibal look like anything worth watching until I

I always had a soft spot for "Waffle King," the song that was more "Sledgehammer" than "Sledgehammer."

Something something down by the river

Well, for Theon at least, I don't think he's really *internalized* the whole Reek thing yet. At this point it's just an easy way for him to stop getting punched. The beginning of the road, not the end of it.

@avclub-d980b15d49101608dc407770f35b1d75:disqus : more specifically, murdering infant LANNISTER children. Infant Targaryen children, on the other hand?

I think it's more that unlike Ned, Davos knows *precisely* who he's dealing with, and what he can get away with. Stannis has changed somewhat since Melisandre started pulling his strings, but he's still Stannis, which makes him mostly predictable.

@avclub-782066c88e9c574d6085f3ddfc7032e4:disqus - I believe you are correct, yes. Myrcella left for Dorne last season after Tyrion's meddling to root out Cersei's spy in the Small Council. He had alternate plans for Tommen that he proposed to… Littlefinger? Varys? but the real plan was the one he gave Grand Maester

We haven't gotten a good look at Tommen or Myrcella (Joffrey's younger siblings) yet, but they had the same parents and neither of them seems to resemble the kind of sociopathic twit Joffrey is. Maybe it's a combination of going through puberty + unchecked power to do whatever you want to whomever you want. I think

I'm going to go with the problems in Westeros, at least of the current era, being 51% Cersei Lannister's fault. While Jaime does bear 49% of the guilt for all the incest, if Cersei had even had ONE kid who was legitimately Robert's, then that may have allayed Jon Arryn's suspicions enough to keep him from getting

I actually found that kind of admirable. Jon Snow couldn't mercy-kill the old guy who pretty much *had* to die by someone's hand, but Cat goes ahead with her pointless act of vengeance just to keep her word.

No spoilers, just theories: I think the dude can just tell what direction the wind is blowing. He seems to be legitimately afraid of Tywin Lannister, and realistic about Robb's chances having alienated both the Karstarks and the Freys. Tywin is known to be a friend to those who kneel and an unstoppable death machine

I don't think Littlefinger and Varys are *smarter* than Tywin, exactly. I'd say they're all roughly at the same level of craftiness. The difference is that Varys seems to lack Tywin's ambition and need for personal (or family) glory and Littlefinger is what Tywin would be if he was basically nobody and had nothing to

Woulda been better with Curb Your Enthusiasm tuba music. I'm sure that'll be on YouTube within the hour.

Well, that, or she's REAL serious about maintaining her cover.

Well, on the show at least, Jaime specifically told Roose Bolton to send his regards. I'm surprised he didn't call him out specifically.

I also checked the show out solely because of the glowing AVClub review- there was no other reason to believe that the show was anything but a stupid attempt to cash in on a franchise. Hannibal Lecter, in a buddy cop show, with food names for all the episodes? And every promo includes the clip where Will is all "Did

Probably the only reason they were growling is that they're accustomed to strange visitors providing them free human meat, and she was holding out on them. Maybe she tossed them a couple of fingers.

One thing that occurred to me after the show ended: Lecter has learned from his phone experience with Abigail in the pilot. Georgia couldn't see his face, and he was careful enough this time not to speak either, lest his very distinctive accent give him away. He knows that the ECT will likely damage/wipe out her

Actually I expect this to be exactly what happens- I believe that Hannibal is walking the line, since he wants to have Will in an effective state of mind for gaslighting, and will continue to monitor him (via drawings, etc.) until he feels that Will is in danger of an irretrievable descent into encephalitic madness.

"What are we going to do with you?"
