A big issue surrounding the travel ban is whether or not to take into account Trumps own statements regarding the Muslim ban. The Hawaiian judge citied a press release from Trumps campaign explicitly calling for a Muslim ban, but there is an argument that the executive order should be taken on its own terms. It's not

He seems to think he can negotiate a federal court ruling.

If only we could comment and tell them.

A lot of journalists suddenly became very worried about distractions from the Trump administration.

Trump is fighting NSC head McMasters over an NSC aide Trump refuses to let McMasters replace. One of Bannons unqualified lackeys, that Trump refuses to get rid of.

The major takeaways from what we can tell of Trump's taxes:

Healthcare: several Republicans are now openly saying they will not vote for the AHCA. After the week long focus on the far-right complaints that the bill isn't conservative enough, it's the CBO score scaring away the more mainstream Republicans who remember that their constituents like having insurance that's caused

Muhammad Ali Jr. was detained and questioned about "where he got his name."

I mean, "is an idiotic craven jackass" is a reason.

Generally, it looks like the CBO score is softening some—but not all, or even most—of the far right opposition, but is hardening moderate Republicans against it.

Also, today was the deadline for the Justice Department to produce a report on Trump's claim that Obama wiretapped him. They asked for an extension.

The CBO score for the AHCA came out and was worse than expected, predicting that 24 million people will lose health insurance if it were passed. I mean, what the hell? Make strong borders your only campaign issue, then slash funding for border protection?

My guess is he's still planning Mexico paying, but I guess we'll see when the budget is officially released. If he's cutting airport security after the travel ban, he doesn't give a shit about funding anything.

The House is working on a bill that would allow employers to ask for DNA tests of employees. Steve King is probably not alone in his beliefs in Congress, just the most outspoken and explicit.

The justification for the increase in military spending is that the US needs to reinvest in becoming a military power again. The US military is already the most powerful military force to have ever existed in the known universe.

Easily the scariest Steve King.

Imagine the coverage if an elected official of the ruling party in another country said what Steve King said. The UN would pass a resolution, there would be an international boycott.

Trump is expected to release a budget within the week. It will increase military spending and maintain Social Security, and include cuts to literally everything else, including the TSA. Gotta avoid defecit spending, I guess.
