I was waiting for the legacy account claims to activate. After I linked it, I literally got infinite notifications.

Yeah, mandatory registration and Disqus were both treated as death knells, but they weren't. I think cutting out unregistered comments killed some of the silliness, but did create more of a sense of community. Disqus has its problems, but upvotes and nested threads are an improvement. I'm approaching Kinja with an

A really kickass Halloween party.

Also, there were major protests outside the rally. Cops in riot gear firing tear gas level. Also of note: At least one armed left-wing milita showed up, to protect the anti-Trump protesters. I've read an article that identified them as the John Brown gun club, and another about the left-wing Redneck Revolution, which

Thanks for the shoutout! As I've said elsewhere, I'm giving Kinja a chance. If it is as much of a disaster as people predicting, I might migrate to Avacado or WOT. Or put more effort into other avenues for writing, aside from comments. It's ironic that a feature that gave us the time Sharknado would come on had better

For tomorrow, nothing shall be on, but Kinja

Also, driving around in a car with his name on the specialty license plate.

I blame Mitch McConnell.

That's the same reason Justin Timberlake still lives.

I don't think the books have ever spelled out the size of the White Walker army the way the show has. If it is "biggest army of the world" size, they might go with the "kill one guy and it's done solution.

Naw, fuck him , ice shards.

Yeah, what is going on with the Dany and Jon stuff? Are they really trying to set up a return to the incestous Targaryan empire as a good thing?

So, "I was into it before it was cool" basically?

I think it was something like 20-30 years after the armistice. Which is a big difference between Afghanistan and Korea—the US accomplished military goals relatively quickly, and pushed North Korean troops out of South Korea; Afghanistan is much more like Vietnam, with an active insurgency undermining the state.

The troop surge would probably happen no matter who was in the White House. The vague "no more timetables" stuff and trying to increase India's involvement seems to be Trump, and also is bad (I can see why you wouldn't want to talk about pulling out, but not even a timeline to pushback on the Taliban?)

That always happens with "nation building"—the leaders of the nation being built are chosen for being "pragmatists," and they end up skimming money from the builder-nation. Throw in some "foreigners out of our country" guerilla groups, and it's a recipe for disaster.

He actually busted out the "how will people learn?" line in an actual classroom? Goddamn.

Anybody that thought going in on Afghanistan would bump up Trumps poll numbers is an idiot. People are sick of Afghanistan; it's a giant quagmire, with no good out.

I may contact Disques, to merge this AVC account into a big Disqus, to protect my post history (and, I'll be honest, upvotes. I have a lot! 8-1 upvote to comment ratio!)
