Yeah, it's too early for serious predictions. Trump is making massive unforced errors, with negative political capital as it is, and it's clear that Republicans don't know how to deal with him. But 2018 is a long ways off.

The entire Republican party are basically popping their monocles out at the thought of obstructionism from the minority party in the Senate.
Technically speaking, the 2018 slightly favors Republicans, but that's assuming Trump voters turn out for Republicans. Even then, they'd likely pick up 8 seats at the most (which would be a filibuster proof supermajority).
Ted Cruz has mentioned killing the filibuster, but McConnell has avoided bringing it up so far. Could be he isn't sure they'll hold the Senate in 2018.
*Garland storms Capitol building during confirmation vote, pulls a stunner on Garsuch and takes his place on the bench*
Robo-judges will serve 1,000 years!
Trump uses a teleprompter when he needs to speak in complete sentences.
Also: Congressional Republicans are starting to figure out a message on the the Muslim Ban, mostly 'for it in principle but it could've been handled better.' Paul Ryan is supporting it, even as it's been confirmed nobody in Congress was notified of it beforehand, with several Republicans saying they learned of it from…
Both sides are preparing for a SCOTUS fillibuster, with Ted Cruz making empty threats about gutting Supreme Court filibusters as retaliation.
Presumably, a direct attack on Trump could get their non-profit status revoked. For instance, they wouldn't be able to say "The Trump administration is bad for women."
This is self-parody. This was literally a Family Guy joke.
Also, there was another executive order, asking agencies to submit two existing regulations to roll back for every new one. It's a dumb idea, and he's clearly trying to distract from the immigration clusterfuck.
Apparently, he just asked Heritage Foundation to make a list, and is going with the guy he likes the most.
Yeah, I'm just continually staggered by this incompetence. The malice I expected, but the depths of the sheer stupidity is amazing.
There's a burgeoning movement called "Justice Democrats" which has already vowed to primary out Democrats that don't sufficiently oppose Trump. McConnell isn't what they need to worry about.
Frankly, the real takeaway is that Trump was trying this bullshit before his AG was confirmed—anybody that knows anything would've known his executive orders would get challenged in court, so why not wait until the AG transition was under way to do anything?
They've called it "extreme vetting" and now claim the vetting isn't "extreme."
Democrats are starting to get on board with #resistance. Senator Merkley has announced he intends to filibuster Trump's supreme court nominee, Al Franken says there will be 0 Democrats voting for DeVos, and there is momentum against Sessions as well.
…Has once again spoken out against Trump, calling the immigration ban "crazy" and "stupid." Man, travel back in time to 1989 and tell people that a Donald Trump/Arnold Schwarzenegger feud would represent a major fissure in US politics, they'll think your a lunatic.
Some big Wall Street banks have spoken out against Trump's Muslim Ban, including a Goldman Sachs executive. It seems fucking up international relations is bad for international corporations. They're also beginning to worry that Trump is such an incompetent shit show that he won't be able to deliver tax cuts.
