The early-to-mid-90's is fascinating since he was at war with WB and recording a bunch of stuff trying to get out of his contract faster. And his live shows were great.

The early 90's stuff is pretty good, Tony M. rapping aside. And I think the Come album from 1994 is underrated. But starting with Emancipation, yeah I agree. He got close a couple times(ArtOfficialAge and HitnRun Phase Two).

I have a feeling they're saving "Erotic City" for the PR deluxe version next year.

It's an album that musically, is very rich but lyrically…yeah. That was his early days as a Jehovah Witness. Even still, there were some gems on there. "She Loves Me 4 Me" and "Last December" come to mind.

Hope he lives long enough to release his 15th album.
