Agreed- the broad themes of the story and how they plugged into the original trilogy were great, it's how they unfolded on screen that killed everything.

People complain about Ronan but I thought he was the perfect classic, irredeemably evil villain for that movie. The Guardians are supposed to be subversions of the heroes who are pure embodiments of good and light, which is the sort of conflict a character like Ronan would probably be facing in a traditional story. …
