I agree, and there was a time several seasons back (I think Season 4) where Dexter did say that maybe he could be free from the Dark Passenger and therefore his urge to kill.

Ghost Harry is just the worst example of a wider problem with dialogue on the show. So many lines are actually stage directions, telling us who people are and what we should be thinking about them.
I think I’ll add my voice to those that complain about the “no long term consequence” nature of Dexter storylines.
