I'm too much of a coward to badmouth them over there.

I definitely got it but didn't want to admit it.

But did you watch The Pitch?  I'd love to hear a young female copywriter's take on that show…

BINGO!! I think joan's usage of this phrase, in this context, is about as egregious as if every. single. positive. adjective written into the script were

No, I'm agreeing that it's got to be The Fixer.  I just feel like a dolt since I can't remember why don and megan were discussing bond.  Or why he said something like "It's Bond" as he lay in bed holding a book.  And you're right - bond novels were a wee bit smaller.

Well, I suppose I should have read more than just one recap before I used the word "ick".  That was dumb.  I just spend waaaaaaaaaay too much time watching TV, and even more time reading my fave writers, so I tend to stick to just the excellent, thoughtful writers (much of the time, here) or hilarious and also

Yeah, the napalm was brilliant.

GO AND BOIL YOUR BOTTOM, YOU SON OF A SILLY PERSON!!!

Me, too.

I was around in '66, and since, and I've not heard it used, in this context, until…2000?  Somewhere around then?

Thanks so much for bringing this up!!  I thought I was alone in being bothered by these anachronisms…and "it is what it is" is not the first one.  There was one more last night that I almost wrote down, but it was SO glaring I told myself I couldn't possibly forget it.  Which I have.  Another one was also a joan line,

Wow.  I think the only reason January Jones is perhaps "the show's most consistent actor" is because January Jones is just consistently awful.  I'm not being snarky; I agree that she is VERY consistent, in her blandness, her crashingly boring line readings, her inability to come even close to aping the act of smoking

Particularly if she stumbles upon pete AND lane in the middle of the "act".

You're absolutely right - it WAS a bond novel!!  And I thought it was such a perfect choice…to the uninitiated the bond novels were trashy pulp but don would appreciate that ian fleming was a helluva writer.  So…I can't understand all the posts re: the book's being The Fixer by Malamud.  And someone even posted a link

I do love to discover a new source of good writing and recapping on The Internets so was happy to see your reference to tom & lorenzo.  And you're right - they are WAY too enamored of megan, IMO.  But…reading even one recap became difficult for me because, just, ick.

It was hard to tell and I rewound it twice, but…was roger even touching megan's mom at all?  Like her hair, or her face, or…ANYthing????!!! Or was he just sitting there with his head thrown back?   Guys are such assholes.

I just typed this into my "iSpeakFrench" app, which sucks, by the way.  Translation was "Put the lipstick a little more".  I think I've figured it out, though.  har har!!!

This is REEEEEEEEALLY minor, but…I found it odd that betty hadn't bent over backwards teaching sally (and bobby) how to "properly" (i.e., at a dinner party) eat a fish presented in that fashion.  Seems as though she'd have been all over that.  My mom started that stuff with us when we were…like…6.  Maybe it's a

It sounds like a flop to me, too—-all these years later when we're so exhausted with ANY type of ad. I find myself gritting my teeth and spraining my thumb in my haste to punch the channel button, the instant a commercial begins to air.  Not sure it would have been a flop back then, though…in the halcyon days of

Actually it was "Beanz Meanz Heinz".  Nitpicking, I know…but I've never really liked this campaign so felt it important to get it right.  It doesn't exactly trip right off the tongue…
