So who here managed to get others into B5?
I got my little sister into it, and she in turn got two folks in.  I moved back home for a year a while back when I was down on my luck and whipped out the B5 DVDs.  Gave her a big warning about how it starts weak and it gets better.  Funny thing is she thought it was fine,

I think O'Hare just doesn't have a magnetic personality, the why Boxleitner does.  A lead character in an epic space show has to be bold and a little crazy, charming and just.. cool.  Shatner, Stewart, Boxleitner, Brooks- these are intimidatingly awesome dudes.  O'Hare is just… some guy.

I always figured the Centauri culture was more modeled after the Roman empire, but then the first episodes I saw were the beginning of season 4, with Cartagia clearly modeled after Caligula and Nero.

Some of the credit for G'Kar and Londo goes the larger-than-life personalities of the actors.
Londo for example wasn't supposed to have that accent or hair, that just sort of happened from the actor.
Unfortunately I know people who can't watch B5 just because the hair is stupid, yet they watch Trek all the time.

That is a brilliant addition to the show- but I wonder if Garibaldi was also supposed to be the "every man."
They just needed someone to be caught in the moral crisis represented by the Nightwatch and it would have been ridiculous to do that with Garibaldi or Sheridan or Ivanova by that point.

Soul Hunters and Technomages are a bit too magical for my tastes.  I appreciate the ambition and the episode Soul Hunter is fun to re-watch because that actor is so bad-ass (and thankfully they bring him back as G'Kar's uncle later to redeem him).  But the movie with Martin Sheen is a soul hunter is just… pointless.

Garibaldi:B5 as O'Brien:DS9
How can you not love these guys.

There is some weak dialogue on B5.  There is also great dialogue.  Also I don't see how people are criticizing the acting, sorry.  Not just Londo and G'Kar are great but Delenn and yes Sheridan are not far behind.

Infection and TKO are not good episodes (though each have worthy moments).  But neither is the worst, IMO.
The only truly bad episodes- with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, is Grail.

Obviously as a fan I agree.
The most important thing about the pilot is that the story actually works, and that's not even discussed in the review.  You have a politically charged murder mystery- in space!

"(I really liked the episode where Lee Adama started out doing Luke
Skywalker's assault on the Death Star and midway through starts playing
Descent.)"
