I notice you never mention Garcia's acting ability which I think is one of the reasons this episode was a bit subpar. He's not terrible, and the directors certainly know how to get the most out of him (the most being, apparently, Keanu-isms) so I thought he held his own on the beach last night.

A well so old it was built before there was any stone.

I only know millar through civil war and old man logan and this was terrible compared to those (which I thought were fun because of their simplicity).

well, i can only watch the 6 half hour episodes of FLCL so many times.

Wow, wasn't expecting this thread.

I just like the card games. Or rather, the one with the card games are my favorites. besides Final 3 for the SNES. that one rocked.

ditto the Gilmore Girls latter seasons. Voice specific shows where dialog is key often suffer horrible mangled undead existences after their creators leave.

I'm glad you brought up lots of specifics but I think that where i have a problem with your line of reasoning is why does stuff always have to be new and different in order to be good? I agree with many of your arguments but wouldn't say they are necessarily a bad thing. I don't see anything derivative in bands like

Harbinger, I'm right with you. The "Andy" season (which was what, last year?) was a very entertaining season that brought a lot of promise back to the show (featuring Ed Helms doesn't hurt) but they did resolve things poorly.

My problem with crossovers isn't the stories themselves (which can be extremely hit or miss—as somebody said 52 was great, but was followed by the biggest piece of shit DC has ever produced in Countdown) but how crossovers severely derail other series momentum and story-lines.

1979 remains really good, it aged very well. Other than that, I'd say you could cherry pick about 8 or 10 other songs off that doubledisk and have a pretty decent album. There was just a lot of chaff on that'un. Wouldn't call the pared down Melancollie to be on par with Gish or Siamese, but it might still be on my

cool idea(s) Handlen. Not too shabby at all.

And We're Back on Track
Laaaaate to the party (stupid obligations!) but i wanted to write a quick post before I scan the comments and do some interlocutoring…

I guess I fall somewhere between you guys (and I imagine many others do too). I DO trust Lost to a certain extent. I think we are in for a helluva cool ending.

are my methods unsound, Sayid?

jack's been on a roll for a while now. This is by far his best season, although that may not be saying much. Maybe matthew fox needed to freak out and pretentiously bray 'I'm just not going to do tv anymore' sooner.

Here's my crackpot theory. Smokey needs all of the candidates to leave together with him in order to get off the island. He succeeds in this… partially, through Kate's help. BUT, Kate does something to both send her friends back to their homes AND prevent Smokey from actually leaving. It is a sacrifice that she

My thoughts on zombie Sayid. Is he actually a zombie? One way indicates he died and was brought back as not-himself, infected, whatever. But maybe he was brought back 'clean' and it was his deeds that tarred and feathered his soul?

@Anja, we seem to agree on the fact that this week was pretty cool, that last week had some serious problems, and that the Ben flash-sideways was a letdown. yet I have disagree with your Jacob bashing here. I thought one of the more powerful moments of last week's show was jacob's petty nature. It's like some old

Very Strong Episode
I've recently gone back and read some of the old write ups for Lost, and on those I agree quite frequently with the author's overall opinion. So maybe my contrary readings of these recent episodes has something to do with the fact that I'm now watching them 'in real time' rather than in huge chunks
