I agree. It really does boil down to this: if you like it, watch it - if not, then don't. Why on earth would you waste your time watching something for no other reason than the dubious pleasure of bitching about it? To me, haters come across as people who are looking for something to help boost their self-esteem.

If he actually is writing a book about this, I can't wait to read it. His movies do nothing for me, but I saw his one man show on cable and thought it was hilarious. He seems like someone who would be fascinating to sit with for a few hours and listen to whatever weird stories he feels like telling.

Agreed.  Watch the first movie, then the TV series, then Highlander: Endgame (the fourth movie).  Pretend really hard that II and III never happened, and you've got a franchise with decent bookends.

I think they will once the story calls for it. After all, Sparty's last line of the episode was when he turned to Crixus and said, "Now we build an army." I suspect the battles will get a lot more epic next year.

I agree with Edgewise.  Watch Season 1 first, then Gods of the Arena.  Much as I usually like things in chronological order, there's good reason to watch the prequel second.  Motivations make a lot more sense, and it sets up a lot of threads that pay off in Season 2.

- I'd love to read a review of this show by Oswalt.  If you've got a link, post it!

I'd say batshit crazy.  Crazy like a fox would have had her pitching Illiythia and baby over the cliff, then waving bye-bye as they spiraled toward the bottom.  Batshit crazy is doing it yourself for an afterlife rendezvous with your departed husband.

Your cockfights SUCK, you bastard!

DeKnight mentions that he recently recorded the commentary for the season finale, which swells heart with joy to hear.  If you're as big a fan of well-done commentaries as I am but haven't heard any of DeKnight's, I highly recommend them.  He does them just right - lots of details about how things developed from

"What I love about 10 episodes is that once you’re in it, you’re always like, 'Oh, we have so much to do, and there’s so little space.' But what that does is, you resist the urge to write episodes that are just filler, just treading water."

If they could find a way to "de-shrew" Betty at this point, I might have.  But until they do, the answer is no.

Perhaps so, but in many ways the transition was eased by the fact that the divide between seasons (and actors) came at the exact moment the character of Spartacus underwent a radical change as well.  The moment he threw open the gates of House Batiatus and led everyone to their escape, Spartacus had to become a very

OK, I stand corrected.  I just watched the episode again (because it was just so fucking awesome), and slow-motioned that scene.  Oenomaus's left hand got spiked, and the size of the blade made it an impalement clear across the palm, with about 1/2 inch on either side being the only thing keeping his hand from getting

I hope you're wrong, because I've come to like Agron a lot this season. But unfortunately, I think you're right. Nasir is going to be back on the market soon.

Yeah, you definitely get the impression that someone charges House Batiatus a bulk rate for cleaning blood out of pools.

And WTF is up with the "Egyptianator"?  He seems to suffer no ill effects after being dredged up out of some dungeon pit where he's been kept for some time, gets shot full of arrows, then stabs the shows biggest badass in the eye despite being stabbed through the hand holding the knife.  What's he going to do next

For the last few episodes, I thought the whole Ashur/Lucretia "relationship" was just Ashur toying with and tormenting his former domina through a combination of rape and psychological abuse (i.e., calling her "my love" all the time).  But after tonight, I'm wondering if he's actually believing his own bullshit with
