Lucretia definitely deserved a HUGE comeuppance for the mayhem she's caused so far, although you could also argue that the death of her husband, complete loss of her status and property, and the stabbing abortion Crixus gave her in the season 1 finale went a long way towards providing that.  For me, what made that

Same here, but I truly hope he makes it all the way to the end of the series before suffering some appropriately horrible demise.  When he walked into the whorehouse to recruit the facial-tattooed badass, he had that smug grin that tells you some impossibly devious plan is coming together, and what's more, it's going

You're right, he did.  The way they "gifted" Naevia to Ashur in season 1 wasn't as viciously explicit as his grudge-fucking of Lucretia, and I'd forgotten about that until just now.  So Lucretia was his second strike, so to speak.

My own random observations:

I'd be the last person to trivialize the horriffic events of 9/11, but I'm really not seeing the connection here.  The ad is plastered across three buildings, not two, none of which are particularly tall or resemble the trade center in any way.  This level of overreaction to an innocuous ad reminds me of the online

I've seen a few votes for Illythia from Spartacus, but Ashur wins on that show for most loathsome, scheming, deceiptful sleazebag… who you can't help but be fascinated by, if only in anticipation of the day he'll finally get the (hopefully hideous) comeuppance he so richly deserves.

Agreed.  It's at least somewhat useful as a Kira arc story, although I didn't think much of the episode overall.  I disagree with Zack, though, about Kira overreacting to the Kai's death.  She's portrayed as a very religious person, so her grief came across like a devout Catholic finding out the pope just died.  Not

It was awesome to see that slimy raping fuck get speared, but after watching the episode again this morning, I'm wondering if there's a slight chance he survived.  If you look closely, the spear hits him just below the left shoulder, in an spot that wouldn't be fatal.  This isn't a show that goes for subtlety in its

I agree. I figured that one of them was likely to fall in the arena just to up the dramatic stakes a little.  But I was hoping they might all escape anyway, maybe with Rhaskos just getting injured really badly, or losing a hand or arm.  I could see him rigging up some sort of bludgeon or sharp weapon to his stump and

Goddammit Bubbameister, why'd you have to go and ruin Teal'c for me like that?

That was bloody amazing.  Ryan, your review nailed it.  This show has gone from a guilty pleasure to an unapologetic champion of television.  Every time I think it can't get any better, they prove me wrong.

Two deaths of note tonight: one that made me happy, and one that made me sad.  Seeing that sleazy reptillian

Every now and then Starz might do a marathon of whatever episodes you missed from this season, but as far as I know they don't show past seasons on any reliable basis.  Does your cable service have a Starz on demand feature?  That might give you some results.

Clockwork - glad you like the show, but if I were you I'd DVR the rest of this season's episodes until you've had a chance to Netflix or find some other way to watch the show from the beginning.  I think you'd get a lot more out of it knowing where these people came from and how they got to their present situation.

Mira has been getting more and more aggressive this season, and the opening fight scene gave her a nice opportunity to show that she can go batshit crazy when the situation requires it.  But I also liked how they took her down a notch a little later when she only got in one good blow before getting the crap knocked

And cartoonish or not, I thought the cymbal gag was hilarious. Not every joke has to be intellectual; occasional slapstick also has its place on this show (Andy's pratfalls are pretty fucking great as well).

Ryan - any chance of revisiting the first season after this one ends?  When this show first aired, the AV Club did a one-shot review of the pilot and blew the series off as a mindless dud.  Understandable, since even the producers admitted that it took a few episodes to get their act together and start doing it right.

I couldn't agree more.  There's no getting around the fact that it's unnerving at first to see Liam in the role, but it's a lot easier to swallow when you consider the circumstances.  It's not like Whitfield left due to contract disputes, ego trips, or any of the other reasons that have brought good shows to ruin in

MY COCK RAGES ON!

Have no fear, our cocks will still rage on.

Although I tend to agree with Judd Apatow on this one, in the cases of both Elayne Boosler and Paula Poundstone, Jerry Lewis is right.
