I get the impression that Sean Penn is one of the most humorless human beings on the planet. I can't imagine he would even be able to function in any environment outside the self-important bubble of Hollywood.

I did a quick poll of the room after Sean Penn finished his little verbal walkabout, and no one else understood a word of it either. Not even the press, apparently, because this is the first article I've come across that even acknowledge that bizarre little moment.

Yikes!
Ricardo Montalban is a huge oversight. What montage clip isn't enormously enhanced by footage from The Wrath of Khan? And I'm almost 100 percent certain Farrah Fawcett would have made the tribute if Michael Jackson hadn't died the same week. (Even HE made the list for Pete's sake! Until I saw that clip from The

Hoobastank is here!
I get the feeling that this episode would have been graded a lot more favorably if Nathan Rabin had been reviewing. I mean, he have the JLo episode a B-, right!? How could Zach Galifinakis possibly rate lower than that!? Having the smarts to just let the man do his standup act for the opening

"I didn't invent the turtleneck, Lana…
…but I was the first to recognize it's potential as a tactical garment. The 'Tactical Turtleneck," Lana… the 'Tactleneck"!

With Dave Foley as John Wilkes Booth!

CGI Christina Ricci?

I sorta thought the same thing, actually.

Sliding Doors
I'm not sure I can get on board with people who complain that the flashsideways don't matter because they're 'not real.' I'm not so sure that Smokey's not gonna try and slot some people into their alterna-timeline as their means of 'escape.' I mean, if Sayid ends up with Naydia in the other version of

Oh wow…
I haven't thought about Steve Lillywhite since I was sitting in a dorm room burning the "Lillywhite Sessions" onto a CD using a bootleg found on Audiogalaxy…

@stargirl: SERIOUSLY? That's some pre-planning! Especially since @MrPlow99 points out that 4 + 8 + 15 + 16 + 23 + 42 = 108. Maybe this season feel like "Old Times" because the writer's must've practically written in 5 years ago!

Piano Samurai
Are we ever gonna get an explanation for all the random cameos we're getting from the Others in Alta-Reality? Is there ANY significance to Ethan appearing as Claire's doctor or Samurai man as the father of the other piano boy? Does the island/Jacob's plans not even exist in this universe? Or are all the

@Lone Audience: Your is not the first reference I've seen online to terrible CGI in this episode… What part are you referring to? Am I missing something? I thought the only bad CGI we usually got on this show was ol' Smokey…

@haysoos: Please, please, please let the Alice and Wonderland reference be nothing more than a shout-out to pig skullfur baby. Remember when Alice picks up the Duchess' baby, only to discover it's turned into a pig?

Forget the show
…I want to watch live greenroom footage of Shaun White and Sarah Palin's Awkward Pre-Show Smalltalk Spectacular.

I love how Wanda Sykes — an openly gay woman with a French girlfriend — is a favorite on Jay Leno's show. Given his audience, it always feels mildly subservience whenever he has her one.

Can't it be both?

Hitchen's is a polymath asshole.
