Awww! They sound very cute!  I've seen plenty of kittens (<1 yr.) become "brothers" or "sisters" because of circumstance!  It sounds like they really love each other.  That's amazing your vet could tell they were a month apart - how old were they then? Once they get to a certain age, it's harder to tell based on looks…
