That "missing a few fingers" bit was horrifying to read. I knew he was in bad shape before he died (the abcesses and all that), but missing fingers? Holy shit. That's messed up.

I liked the shapeless jeans and huge fucking sweaters too.
Nate Dogg received a lifetime pass from me for his work on Warren G's "Regulate."
"Either" should actually say "too."
Uh, being vegetarian doesn't automatically make you skinny. I know plenty of fat vegans, either. It's a lot easier to eat junk food if you're out somewhere without a lot of options that fit your dietary needs, so a lot of people just do that.
I don't think girls singing along on the dancefloor at a club are very good indicators of quality music.
The worst part about the DHOH record is the way Franti pronounces "experiment" in that song (I think it's called "Socio-Genetic Experiment."
Some of my best friends are white Canadian rappers.
Thanks for the tips, SG. I'll check that stuff out, although I expect I'll probably just go back to my Augustus Pablo records if I want anything with "dub" in the name of the genre.
Bone Thugs are still releasing records, though, aren't they? I'm sure I saw something new as recently as '07 or so.

Guru sounds weirdly uncomfortable on the mic even in Gang Starr, though. Just the way the dude's voice sounded.
I was writing an essay for the liner notes of a friend's (punk) album a few years back and I actually ended up quoting a Disposable Heroes song. That probably doesn't happen too often.
'Til the Casket Drops is actually pretty decent. It grew on me. At first I was disappointed, but I've come around.
Word.
You're mostly right, Karp, although I still see the occasional rap review in college-type publications by white indie rock fans with little frame of reference for hip-hop, and the tired old "whoa, they're not talking about bitches and blunts?!? This is revolutionary!" stuff still comes out.
I haven't really been able to get into dubstep. I assumed I would at first, because I figured the dub influence would be a lot heavier, and as a reggae nerd, it sounded up my alley.
I saw an Apache Indian video the other day. Pretty awesome.
Awww….
I remember seeing interviews with Asher Roth popping up in pretty much every magazine, and then finally hearing his single and being really, really disappointed. It was one of the worst things I've ever heard.
