Agreed. Her performance was far superior to Melissa Leo's in The Fighter.

WEATHERMAN Houston Lightning.

The ads for the show had me really looking forward to it. I really hope that casting Keri Russel is a stroke of genius in the same way that casting Claire Danes for Homeland was, and from the ads it seemed like it really had the potential to be.

I liked Strathairn every bit as much as Jones, although that is partly to do with having just read a New Yorker article about William Seward, and from what I read about him Strathairn portrayed him with almost complete accuracy. He was also funny and a great foil to Lincoln without the showmanship of Jones.

What a strange and incredible film Holy Motors is. I would rank as my second favorite of the year after The Master personally, but on the other hand it is pretty difficult to really compare it to any other film, as it goes from anime to surreal comedy to familial drama to gangster thriller to musical to a Pixar movie

There's also a scene which may have either been referencing or thumbing its nose at Unforgiven where Django is hesitant to kill a stagecoach robber, and Schultz says something along the lines of "This guy killed innocent people, and this is a dirty business where you have to get your hands dirty, so quit pussyfooting

I agree with Nabin on pretty much everything, except I don't think he is giving enough credit to Tarantino for the underlying moralism of the movie. While I am not quite on the same page that Tarantino was when he said that he wanted people cheering at the end, I do agree with what I think is the overall point that he

Yeah that was pretty brilliant, although it was not actually a KKK scene because the KKK did not exist yet at the time. Jonah Hill pretty much owned this year in comedy with this and 21 Jump Street. The only scene that would challenge it for best comedy scene would be Freddie's Rorschach test in The Master.

Agreed @avclub-29501df08e5d9ae59e432e4f188d3735:disqus . Employee of the Month is my least favorite movie ever, for the reasons you mentioned and the infuriating artificiality of Jessica Simpson.

@avclub-5a1c0dcc8243c086c74ee944052f6f0f:disqus is exactly right here. Reading it as high school sophmore a couple years ago, the play irritated me to no ends with the stupidity of the characters (Romeo in particular) before I realized that was the point of it.

Would the cash reward be for who turns the voltage the highest, or for who suffers the most mental trauma?

Wow, Craig Ferguson would make a great game show host. Why hasn't this happened yet?

I don't know if someone's complained about this already, but it really annoys me when a great album like The Roots' Undun comes out late in the year, and the best of lists say, "Well it's too late this year, it will be on our list next year," and they always forget about it the next year.
