I think Mann is the glossiest, most pretentious B-movie director working today - and I mean that as a compliment. The Insider is by far the most "legitimate" movie he's ever done, where he truly cared about substance. Most of his work are just style exercises.

Forget the shoes..
…those glasses on the second guy are abso-fucking-lutely ugly as sin. Jeezus they aren't stylish even in an ironic way. Fashion must die.

Yeah I'm not sure why Nikon thinks this campaign is a wise investment.

No firstie for you!
You suck, Ashton!

Another "One" fan, but I also never really liked Metallica. I blame "Enter Sandman", which was absolutely played into the ground in early 20s and turned me off exploring them any further. I loathe that entire album - yes, even "The Unforgiven".

I don't understand the love for Spektor and especially this song. It is, for lack of a better word, lame. It makes my teeth hurt.

More love for "Cult of Personality", although it would be nice if they put out one more great album. Just one - that is all I ask.

I wholeheartedly agree - please see my comment above.

That's called "Grading on the Ebert Curve"

Good old trusty book editors
The career that in reality is extremely tedious, dull, and (nowadays) rare as an arctic fox, yet always a reliable fallback as a professional career for a hardass dramedy character.

Damn, finally - a fairly cryptic Elton John reference. I am internally applauding.

At least they were bragging about the director. I hate those "from the producers of…" or "from one of the guys who wrote…" bragging points. Who effing cares?

Doc, here here! Tony Scott is and has always been a technically proficient hack. HACK I say. The only good movie he has ever directed had Tarantino's gritty screenplay to back it up.

Next up for the shittiest Scott…
…The Warriors remake, relocated to LA. I shit you not.

So we can agree that Kevin Smith has his moments as a writer but is clueless behind a camera? Can we? You'd think by now he'd understand pacing or camera angles or the like, but maybe he's found his groove and is sticking to it. That's fine, and I won't hold it against him - until someone groups him with the other

Random responses to various posts - in reverse order:
I prefer Tenebre to Suspiria - it is that awesome.
Kevin Smith - ok scriptwriter, indefensibly bad director.
Breakdown is underrated b-movie goodness.

Take a break, Willard
Ferrell needs to take a looooooong break from movies. Maybe do some producing, guest start stints on TV shows or another cartoon. When a comedian's best movie is a drama (StF), then maybe he should be a little pickier with his projects. He apparently thinks he can make ANYTHING funny - and that

Another vote for Delta Burke - voluptuous + accent = hatchi matchi!

ZMF, if this preview is the best thing to happen to you all day then you must have just woken up. Or got hit by a car as you stepped out of bed.

Thanks for the recommendations - I will check out Aguirre, which I have forgotten about. So can we admit this is a big effing mistake?
