Jin-Roh was a boring, tedious movie with all the subtlety of a Lifetime movie. It completely turned me off of blind-buying.

I've read Less than Zero and American Psycho, and let's just face it - his writing style is boring. Dull. Violent misogyny notwithstanding ("but a homeless guy died!" puhlease), he just is not an interesting writer. Somehow he accomplishes the feat of being superficial and clinical simultaneously - bravo.

Zircon, I forgot about Promised Land. That was one strange "metal" album, and deserves a listen by anyone who shoehorns Queensryche into the hair-band era.

Please don't lump them in with hair metal bands of the era. Their music was more complex, their lyrics were interesting, and they are still awesome live to this day. Poison and the like could not have done "Silent Lucidity" or "Empire", much less Operation:Mindcrime, even on their best day.
