Thumbs up for the previously mentioned TD soundtracks, and I'd like to add 'Flashpoint' to the list. Heavy on the Simmons drum units, and quite moody. (I shall not mention the soft rock title track by someone else - you can skip that).

Seconded. Both stories were available here as a single novel ('Across Realtime'), and they were pretty enjoyable. I started on 'Rainbows End' but couldn't really get on with it after the first few chapters.

It's very pronounced on TD's first two albums ('Electronic Meditation' and 'Alpha Centauri'). By 'Phaedra', I think they had moved away from early Floyd, and were doing their own thing.

Very different bands, but Cardiacs and Severed Heads.
