This is my first time through the series (when S2 rolls around, I'm going to start making spoiler-free threads for us first-timers, I think) and I actually came to like Sinclair quite a bit.  To the extent that I'm disappointed to know he'll be leaving :(

Yep.  My personal favorite of his.  Though I should probably rewatch Ikiru, as I think it would probably hit me a lot harder now than the first time.

That does surprise me.  When Ben tours solo (or with a backing band) he plays really good, long shows.  I'm hoping you're right and they were just tired or something.

That whole album blows me away.  Philosophy is my personal fav, but it's going up against heavyweights like Jackson Cannery, Alice Childress, Boxing (fucking BOXING; this song kills me every time), Underground, and Best Imitation.  God, I love this band.
