It was a rather small thing, but perhaps is explained better in a deleted scene (Pam is attracted to Colin Firth… Pam picked a shredder in like 10 minutes and felt like going to a movie etc etc.)… but it kinda worked in a weird way, it was probably better than a 'stuck-in-traffic' scenario which most shows use to

I thought it as a little strange that Pam was lying about the shredders and ended up going to watch The King's Speech. A sign she's not entirely committed to her job? Or was it just a case of will she/won't she make it to see of Scott?
