This article reads like it was written by somebody doing a bad ripoff of Sean O'Neal. Learn some sarcasm.

Let's just say we're doing it for an old pal in the army

does this make up for it?

depends on what you want your spacecraft to do. . . there are benefits in certain situations to going against the flow, when it comes to weather satellites and earth observation. If you're looking just to get up there though, a counterclockwise orbit lets the earth give you a sizable boost

first SPOILERS AHEAD, second the angle an orbit makes with respect to the equator is known as its inclination. . .

false

That's true, but it's polite to google before you rant, especially if you're a PhD.

see my comment above. The debris was actually coming from more a north-south direction. The orbital mechanics in the movie ARE very wonky, but not for the reasons NdGT says.

it's not even remotely true that nearly all satellites orbit west to east. The sun-synchronous orbit is an extremely popular class of orbits and is a retrograde (east-west) orbit.

judging by their expressions i think they both just farted

ah man, i thought this was the caption contest thread

yeah, i thought bullock was awesome. she gave a great performance

Ok but seriously how was this filmed? Was it all greenscreen? It's mind boggling

don't worry we'll fix that with a new coach. get you right as rain.
