I have absolutely seen the words "they owed us a better ending." As well as "we watched all this time, for that?!", as if people willingly watched hours upon hours of television solely for the sake of leading up to an ending, rather than, you know, being entertained by the show along the way.
Let's be fair, (without having seen Winter Soldier yet) I think her character was righted with Avengers. Can you deny the introductory chair fight, and the "mewling quim" interrogation bluff scenes?
Comic Book Guy: Last night's Itchy & Scratchy was, without a doubt, the worst episode ever. Rest assured I was on the Internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world.
I'm also kind of lumping it together with criticism of 'Girls' in general. Not to say that there are people who dismiss that show for shallow, even disgusting reasons - in comments on this very site, often. But the overwhelming narrative from both critics and the producers of Girls seems to be that almost any…
But such general, blanket defensiveness immediately dismisses absolutely any criticism whatsoever as jealousy/sexism.
The nudity bugs me in part BECAUSE of their defenses of it. It's one thing for them to say they're trying to depict the real human body - that'd be noble for a show to do. But it's undercut if certain people on your cast clearly have a no-nudity clause in their contract, and if you twist a reporter's (admittedly…
I'm not saying that there aren't people who wrongly judge her based on looks. But I'm a little annoyed that the opening paragraph of this review has to paint anyone who would dare criticize her as a jealous sexist. Between that and the go-to cries of body-shaming if anyone asks why Girls contains so much nudity for a…
Is it even possible to criticize Dunham whatsoever without being accused of misogyny and/or jealousy? What if I genuinely just don't find her funny, or thought her timing tonight was frequently off?
I cannot comprehend how this episode wasn't an A. My favorite since at least the early seasons.
This show is so delightful and breezy that I genuinely can't believe we're 19 episodes in and there are only a few left.
"There’s the “ding” of the elevator that goes off when Jess realizes she could have a hotel room all to herself; later, Cece’s growing annoyance with Coach’s “girlfriend” act is emphasized by the clatter of coffehouse mug hitting coffeehouse table. "
This show has always been a little cartoony, but as the review implied, it felt like a few too many things were breaking from the show's internal characterizations and level of realism.
Have you ever fired a gun whilst jumpin' thru the 'er?
I thought they usually did a good job of keeping track of how the characters look in flash-forwards, but it threw me when Ted and the mother look exactly the same in 2022 as they do now, while Lily and Marshall look like they're mid-50s by 2020.
To be fair, when I last checked, it was $111,000 or so out of $135,000 with 85 minutes to go.
"See also: Apologies to Kumail Nanjiani for O'Neal's snark on Twitter."
I have to read his defense, but I absolutely was on Joel Hodgson's side - those quirks about his ex were way too quick and specific to be made up, as boring and dull as they were. People just didn't trust him because he seemed to have a natural jovial quality to his voice when talking about being heartbroken. If…
I heartily suggest downloading the 2013 Tour episode of Bang Bang. Not only are they all great, but Toronto alone vaulted Thicke to one of my favorite PFT characters (though it helps that I was there), and I think he makes another appearance or two on the tour.
They should make some sort of musical series! Perhaps one with original songs, and starring an A-list star like Debra Messing!
