If I didn't know any better, based on this, I'd say Harmon's a pretty bad writer. Ironic, really, considering he's going off on the bad writing of others. Maybe that's the genius(?).

I feel the same about not expecting to care that much about the characters. This was below my minimum threshold of caring that has to be met for the experience not to become boring/grating/aimless, though, and I wasn't looking for Shakespearean complexity or emotional drama.

Like the Star Wars series, the original was more entertaining.

Yeah, I felt like Star Trek Into Darkness was a string of action sequences. At first they were exhilarating, but eventually the whole thing clots together into a general feeling of "Action! Suspense!". I tried to care about the plot/characters, but it just never took. Spock was compelling but Kirk was the opposite.…

When I am assessing breasts, as often I do, "Pendulous?" is first on my checklist and then "Friendly?" is next, and then when both criteria are met, I start zooming around like an airplane and making comic-book onomatopoeiae because I don't know how to deal with breast assessment success.
