The Allman Brothers "invented" Southern rock by just about any measure you want to quantify. They had 2 albums already out by the time Sticky Fingers was released (including arguably their best, Idlewild South - some would say At Fillmore East which came out just a few weeks after Sticky Fingers).

Metropolitan gets by on the fact that Stillman doesn't hide the fact that the characters are rich and much of its tone is critical of their constant whining.

Chris Rock has said pretty much the exact same thing as Seinfeld but has gotten almost none of the same flack for it.

I know what you mean and I am offended! #cancelrev_skarekroe

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Main had at least one record that came out stateside via RCA, along with Hair & Skin Trading Company.

Why? I'm not being obtuse here, but I don't understand the resistance to streaming services.

Heller's thesis is sound here, but alot of the stuff he mentions wasn't even really that weird (Steel Pole Bathtub notwithstanding). Jawbreaker's record may have flopped, but it was a pretty mainstream affair for the mid-90s.

In 95, I was 19 and running up 71

"Savoy Truffle" is one of the best songs, you guys are whack.

"Rocky Raccoon" over "Rain"? Come on!

I'm so glad all these website writers who probably graduated from the likes of Oberlin, Vassar, etc (and are thus statistically likely to be the scions of the white, coastal upper middle class) are able to put their useless degrees to work by regurgitating the same ineffectual identity politics BS that they were fed

The people that say that about jazz don't consider country, blues or rock to be serious artforms.

I think they would have done more with Bobby if they could have had the same actor play him all 7 seasons. The main thing that bothers me is that it seems like he should be older than he is in 1970?

My problem with it is that for all Pete's bad qualities (and there are many) that seemed over the line for him and not totally in character (hence why many have forgotten it).

Pete & the au pair

Actually, paying the full price for the product you ordered does give you the right to complain when the product doesn't arrive as ordered.

I stand corrected.

Wasn't this guy's deal that he wasn't an actor, but an actual white collar dude who happened to know someone involved in the show and got cast in this bit part?

The only reason Don might come back is for Connie Hilton, but my overwhelming sense is that we've seen the last of him in NY.

How is it a cop out? Have you ever voted for a candidate who lost? The coastal liberals didn't vote for Nixon and Skynyrd weren't trying to hang Watergate around their necks.
