Probably Kenyon or Wooster.
Probably Kenyon or Wooster.
The dividing line is probably closer to US30 or even further south. No one from Akron or Canton considers themselves from "central Ohio", let alone people from Berea, Strongsville or Parma. Even if they did, 480 doesn't extend as far west as Oberlin, but it's extension (OH-10/US-20) actually ends just south of town.
Kind of like how New York didn't re-elect 3 of the senators that gave that bill the margin of victory in 2012. Thinking of legislative action and direct democracy as some sort of "will of the people" mandate is seriously flawed in this day and age due to gerrymandering and the ability of interest groups to drive…
Thats better than the ones who try to hide where they're from.
It was January of 2008 to Anon's point below - but they also voted for Obama twice and by reasonably comfortable margins (by today's standards).
I grew up about 12 miles from there and visited often because its a great town with an awesome free art museum.
That's a fair assessment.
Yes, unlike New York which legalized it by a 4 vote margin in the state legislature and then failed to re-elect 3 of the 4 Republicans that provided that slim margin.
Spot on! Much better said than I tried to explain below.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a "Girls" hater overall - I actually like most of the show, but that episode really rubbed me the wrong way. She definitely got the tone & feel of certain things about the Great Lakes correct, but the way she portrayed the young people as lacking any type of depth or sophistication was so…
Yes, Iowa - a state that legalized gay marriage before New York is filled with nothing but "ignorant Bible Belt morons" - but don't let facts get in the way of your stereotyping.
Oberlin is in northern Ohio, and most of its students live inside a self contained bubble and never set foot outside the campus except to catch their planes back to the coast.
I can only imagine the kind of hackneyed flyover country jokes a Brooklyn hipster would make about Iowa. The Season 1 episode where she goes home to her family for the weekend shows what kind of disdain Dunham has for the midwest.
Why would I even have a cable subscription if I owned a Roku?
I remember once they had a promotion where you could download celebrity voices. My favorite was Mick Jagger saying "You've got some letters". Later on I changed all of the recordings to be clips from Hal Hartley movies.
Poor Neil Young, he worked so long and hard on his box set, waiting for CD audio quality to catch up with his vision. And by the time it comes out - as Volume 1 of ? covering only his early years, no one is buying expensive CD box sets. Now the box that would theoretically cover the years everyone is interested in…
Wait…the Range put out an album without Bruce Hornsby?!
The AV Club:
Since we can't make fun of gay people anymore, at least there's still fat people.
