I'm glad he learned his lesson about team books and seems self aware in interviews reflecting on SA and his X-Men run.

Vol. 3 started to wane on me around the end, so the Vol. 4 reboot was a breath of fresh air. I loved the art on it. The costumes, coloring, and unique cast made it feel like a grown-up version of a Saturday morning cartoon. I only wish PAD got to spend more time writing Cypher, whom I felt was underserved compared to

I like to occasionally go back and fill in missing issues on older runs I liked but was too young/poor to afford every issue (Lobdell/Bachalo's Generation X, Young Justice, Waid/Ramos' Impulse, Peter David's Captain Marvel). There are so many comic events that I had completely forgotten existed - Maximum Security, DC

My Roku app also started playing the second episode when I clicked on the premiere. I only figured it out because Paget Brewster's character was already walking around and interacting with everyone without an introduction. Long way to go, Yahoo Screen!

I agree. The Absolute editions are BEAUTIFUL but insanely expensive. My copy of DC: The New Frontier is basically my favorite book that I own.

I have to agree on that one. JiM tricked me into thinking he was one of my favorite writers! I liked his Uncanny X-Men run well enough, but I had no idea what he was trying to do with something like Invincible Iron Man. Both Young Avengers and Phonogram — probably his signature works at this point — have left me

I just read Pax Romana. I hadn't read any of Hickman's shorter-run independent titles besides the Nightly News, which I surprisingly disliked and gave up on halfway. I'm a huge fan of his super-epic runs though, so I thought I'd give his standalone series another shot. Pax Romana had a really great premise and was fun

Welcome back! Don't listen to the mean jerks. The comics section of AV Club is one of my favorite corners of the internet. It's a bit less snarky than the other portions of the site.

That actually got me to drop the book. And it was only on its — what — third issue? The overly millennial vibe and smart phone-pandering writing was missing for me too.

Is Johns' completed GL run worth picking up in omnibus format? I'm obsessed with reading complete runs of modern superhero comics in omnibus. It's taken forever to come out but soon I'll have 5(!) omnibuses collecting Brubaker's entire run on Captain America/Winter Soldier.

I picked up that omnibus a few months ago too. It was really fun, and made me appreciate Pat Oliffe's art for the first time. Those Lee/Ditko-esque opening pages are my favorites.

And in a love triangle with DEADPOOL, for crying out loud?!

I read that entire series and it never really gelled in any way. It's funny to think that the Daniel Way-written section might have actually been the best parts!

I've been buying every issue of USM since #1. It's been the most consistent, idealized version of Spider-Man I've ever experienced (including any of the ASM runs as well as the movies). There's an occasional story arc that doesn't knock it out of the park, but for the most part it maintains its quality pretty well.

Orange is the New Black's interminable opening theme is the worst when it comes to NetFlix binge-watching. I feel like the show is exponentially better when you skip past the credits!

I'm actually in the exact middle of this exact process right now — playing ME2 after buying the PS3 Mass Effect Trilogy — and I'm having a blast. Occasionally I kick myself because I've always known this series would be right up my alley.

I remember playing this in high school and my girlfriend could not stop laughing at the cut scenes whenever I played it, often referring to it as "that stupid game" around our friends because it hilariously took itself so seriously.

I'd kill to get a more exciting writer behind Peter Quill. Bendis and Humphries are basically just writing space sitcoms with stock characters. The Guardians appeared in the latest issue of Hickman's Avengers and it was just refreshing to get a new voice behind those guys.

His recent FF book with Matt Fraction is pretty great and lighthearted as well. Check it out for more great Allred!

I first discovered Noto's beautiful art on some late-era Danger Girl mini-series and one-shots. The Black Widow assignment is a HUGE step up in terms of readability, trust me.
