He wakes up to a world that is culturally and morally alien to him but manages to navigate through that thick grey area by holding true to his own moral compass.

Post WWII was a turning point, in culture and in technology in America and for a brief period, it seemed like anything was possible. The economy was growing. The middle class was dominant. There was a renewed sense of purpose. It wasn't perfect but opportunity seemed limitless.
