Cake, being a 90s gimmick band that still manages to be relevant and throw a great show. Saw them twice last summer on the festival circuit and had a blast both times.

I've seen so many solid minor 80s bands at our local Ribfest for free. I ain't even mad that I had to go to a Ribfest.

I'm actually surprised at how many I've heard of, just because so many of those bands that had one or two hits on FUSE in the mid-00s are still going at it.

Following Bonnaroo on all my social media is killing me right now, and it's only the first day.

Saturday was one of the best days of my life though. That fucking Damon Albarn set, and I was like the third row back without even trying because nobody understands the pit system.

Actually, one of the things I actually like about Redbox is that since half the major studios won't even sell to them, there's always something unexpectedly weird to pad out the selection. Nothing that great, but some indie mumblecore stuff I never wouldn't sought out otherwise.

I work in a certain complicated entertainment facility where CCTV is an important part of the experience. The replaced all the TVs with flat-screen HD sets probably years before I even started working there, but the whole back-end of the operation is still 4:3 SD. It's a huge clusterfuck of aspect ratios, with every

True story, the version of IE they let us peons use at our workstations can't actually render the latest redesign of our external website.

Anybody else really like their ex's favorite stuff out of subconcious spite? My ex in college was a huge influence on my taste in music, but we were always too broke and stuck in our little directional-school town to go to shows. But I've managed to see most of her/our favorite artists in the years since and have

I had some xenophobic asshole customer at work make a comment about people not speaking English. The girls he was referring to spoke better English than he did when they were up at my counter. Not sure why he gave a shit what language they spoke amongst themselves, but he he obviously did.

His radio show isn't even bad. Kinda strange that Clear Channel picked him to host a radio show that plays more Coldplay and Black Keys than anything else but he's a pretty well spoken guy for being in the Crue.

So like Wayne Coyne? Can't even listen to the Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi anymore because Wayne had to go around being an asshole. What a shame.

Like the classic XKCD comic. It's an old ass-Thunderbird.

I can definitely empathize with this. The lows of my depression aren't nearly intense as many of the stories here, but I just have this dull pervasive feeling that I'm predestined to be a loser (whatever that's supposed to mean) and don't "deserve" nice people or nice things or success.

Went to Bonnaroo this year and had a blast, but I'm still young enough to join in the partying. Even the crowd for Skrillex wasn't that bad. Sets like Jack White and NMH were once-in-a-lifetime and the crowds were great.

Ehh, I live in a place with a lot of Slavic immigrants and a lot of people don't consider them "white". Because some of them are Muslim I guess? Might just be a geographic issue; lord knows that I've had to explain to a few people that Bosnia is closer to Italy than Syria.

Seriously though, I saw him do standup over the summer, and he seemed just as bitter about his screentime as you'd expect him to be. "You might recognize me from SNL! Emphasis on 'might'."

It actually airs on NBC here, fwiw.

I'm a total sucker for the smarmy stylings of Seth Meyers and he's had some good guests, so it's hitting my sweet spot. The cheap-ass set and the relatively sedate host makes the new show seem way more "cable" than Fallon's version, but I liked it.

The local Fox affiliate goes off the air for like 30 minutes at 4 am. Not even sure why; maybe they just legitimately couldn't find an informercial to put there.
