No! I am going to wear clothes of alpaca and dance upon the mountaintops and none of you haters can stop me.

I do. In the sense that I was a teenager in 1994, and I still enjoy doing a nostalgia listen to Throwing Copper every now and then. Sometimes melodrama is fun.

But also, I'm not mad about it. Like, good for him. I like it when artists are sincerely convinced of their own weird.

Interesting take. I guess the main reasons I can see for the fantasy elements are (a) it was the animals walking around that got his attention again at the end of the story (this could have been done in another way, of course, like finding them in a box or something), and (b) there was a feeling like at the end he was

Antiquing?

I think I might nominate this article for the annual AV Club Commenteriat Award for Best Imitation Of What The Comments For The Article Would Be Like For Any Other Website But Like The Sarcasm Inverse Thereof.

That's not really a line in that song is it?

Nice.

I think there's an issue too with what "counts" as fantasy, where fantasy is all but defined as "Tolkein & subsequent ripoffs." Like as soon as you get too far from medeival-swords-and-sorcery even if you have elements that could be called "fantastic" (magic, mystical creatures, etc.) all of a sudden you're in

This is maybe the nerdiest comment I've seen on the AV Club.

Off-topic, but did you see the note below about the header image? It might be good to pick another header image, or at least acknowledge the background on this one. Thanks!

I have gone in the course of my adult life from being an Independent who reads up on both candidates and weighs them carefully to just voting straight down the Democrat line. It's literally a vote for rationality at this point rather than any specific issue. It's depressing.

I hate to be that guy on the AV Club but… it can be two things. Both Internet and real life engagement.

The best part is, maybe she actually did say that. I love artists.

I'm an Independent. I used to occasionally vote Republican. I haven't in a long time, because it has become more and more clear that voting Democrat vs. Republican is a choice between "reasonable human being who you may disagree with on some policies" vs. "panderer to the most irrational elements in the human spirit."

I liked the second one too. It devolved into the ridiculous, but in a fun way. And I think she got some into some genuine spooky stuff in it too (pyramids, living dead people in trees, etc.).

On the other hand, that is the kind of language pedantry up with which etc etc.

I just scrolled down the comments specifically to find this comment and upvote it. Jessica Fletcher is one of my role models. She just so very politely shuts down nonsense.

This is the kind of language pedantry I can get behind ;)
