I had the exact same conversation with my dad! I remember it as the first time I became aware that the proportion of Italian-Americans in the country was perhaps not as great as it was in my personal social sphere (=Catholic school in the Philly-NJ-NY area).

"We also forget that Funicello would have been considered "ethnic" at that juncture."

"pussying out by showing us a crap Japanese boyband no one wants to see"

There are so many unrealistic things on Friends, I don't even know where to start. I think I'll skip the most obvious and commented on (Nice Manhattan appartment, waitress and aspiring chef) and mention the part where Ross was like "Yeah, I'm going to teach some classes at NYU and if they like me they'll hire me as a

We're doing important work here. I fully expect, two hundred years from now, for people to be writing PhD dissertations that involve literary analysis of AV Club comments.

*immediately begins rewatching all of Farscape*

One of the weirdest moments for me was the first time they flashed back to the characters' college years on New Girl, and I was like "Hey, I had that X-Files poster. Hey, I had that iMac. Hey, I had that neo-hippie tie-dyed shirt. Hey, I had that exact comforter from Bed, Bath and Beyond… OH MY GOD THE PEOPLE ON THE

Earlier this summer I was flipping through the TV, and I was like "Hey! A League of Their Own! That'll be a fun nostalgia watch!"

Hooray! Two upvoting randos (randoes?)! It's better that way. Keeps them on their toes.

Thanks for bringing to my attention that Alvin and the Chipmunks came out NINE (9) years ago. If you need me, I'll be sitting in the corner, watching my life go by in a blur, onward and onward towards the inevitable coming of the night…

Seriously, I'm only halfway through Season 1 and I'm already super jealous that I wasn't there. Now I have to wait for the rerewatch on TV Club Classic Classic, which, the way things have been going recently, I am sure will be a real thing that happens on this site.

I have to say, in this era of streamlined storytelling, it's nice to (re)watch a show that is just clunky sometimes, and all of the Star Treks are just clunky sometimes (more or less depending on the series). Anyhoo, I find it charming. (Now I'm the penny-farthing hipster).

I would like to take this opportunity to inform long-term AV Club DS9 fans that I am currently rewatching the show and reading the old reviews, so if you see some rando upvoting a comment you made on an episode, like, five years ago, it's me. I am that rando.

::crossing fingers that the film franchise makes it to Many Waters::
Yes, I'm one of those weirdos whose favorite book in that series is Many Waters.

::sad trombone::

I would happily watch an episode or two of people drunkenly babbling in languages I don't understand about events I've never heard of. I think the conceit of the show would pair well with subtitles.

::somehow it all magically translates into TV Club Classic getting revived::
Right? Right?

"Why does the polar bear, the most carnivore-y of the body builders, not simply eat all the others?"

Not quite a video game, but in case we're wondering if Tokyo already has giant human Whack-a-mole infrastructure in place, the answer is yes: https://tylerraiz.wordpress…

It's funny, when I was a kid and learned about magnets, I was like, "Sure, a special piece of metal that makes other pieces of metal stick to it. Got it." Now, as an adult, I'm like, "Wait a minute, why is that a thing?"
