Any time Dexter's looking too much like an asshole, the writers just conveniently have the 'bad guy' pull a fast one on Dexter or do something 'bad' in the moment, forcing Dexter to take action and act in the name of 'good' and 'righteousness' once again.
The last 5 minutes of the season seems to be a very awesome ending cliffhanger, with all these possibilities going through everyone's mind of how Deb's going to react to Dexter. But most likely she's going to cover for him and take the credit for Travis and at the same time save her case-closed track record. Dexter…
