I'm pretty sure it's embarrassment over turning down this episode that's caused George Takei to (pay an assistant to?) post "funny" pictures to the internet every five minutes as a way of proving he can recognize humor when sees it. I stand unconvinced.

When my brothers and I would record shows like The Simpsons on the VCR we'd usually edit out the commercials while the show was airing, using the pause button. This required a little bit of skill, and one of the main rules was "don't watch the tape during the break" since there was a good chance you'd never get it

Their rule in the writers' room is "comedy trumps physics". They try to get things right, but not at the expense of a joke.

The Dorkin/Dyer eps are reliably hilarious, but they tend to stick closer to the superhero/talk show parody mode, as opposed to the audience taunting satire and  anti-humor that make the show so special.

There's also an unused shadowrama-ey opening sequence that Joel Hodgson did. Don't remember if it ended up on any of the DVD. And speaking of Joel, when he was a guest, he had a line that'll be real helpful this summer "Have you seen the new Batman movie, I mean, it's gettin' to the point where they're just makin'

Another one of their only shown once bits was the three back to back airings of "Warren", with like one word that changed each time.

As far as character depth goes, this ep does get a reminder of Frank's revealing "lived with a guy" speech from the pilot, when he once again uses the phrase "run out of town like a common pygmy".
