I was actually thinking of this scene during last night's Mythbusters, when they busted "nailgun as a lethal weapon in a firefight". I was shaking my fist at them for not testing Snoop's model.

That pretty much *was* Chalmers' character originally, calling Skinner's bs: "Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? A this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?" But now he's got a production company with Skinner. sigh.

The art-world satire did start off closer to a parody of how a generic cop-show (or Walker?) might handle the art scene, going with a 60+ year old style as the hottest thing around.
