I have always been a huge Sorkinphile and Sorkin apologist — yes, even for Studio 60. But holy hell, this show is rotten.

I like to think of this show (along with Brak, ATHF, et al) as a kind of precise nonsense. The comedy is completely idiotic but somehow if the dialogue were changed or the editing was altered in any way, it wouldn't be nearly as funny. It's still amazing to me how the show seems like it's made by a bunch of stoned

My favorite recurring joke was always (and I'm paraphrasing here because I don't know the exact quote…):

Fuck this movie indeed. I saw Stranger Than Fiction at a screening where the writer was present for a Q&A, and it was all I could do to keep myself from asking him "If Emma Thompson is supposed to be the greatest living American writer, why is she writing a crappy Will Ferrell romantic comedy?" The worst.

I'd seen the billboards for this and was looking forward to checking it out. Tonight flipping channels I caught this in the middle and wound up watching for about 10 minutes before I realized it was the same show. Not what I expected. I usually turn my nose up at anything that smacks of Jersey Shore or is just about

Lane Pryce couldn't close a car door.

For what it's worth (and I'm sure a million people a similar story), I know someone who worked on this season who said a lot of Sarah's awfulness towards Bev was created in the editing, and that those two actually had a lot of mutual respect for each other. I didn't really consider Sarah to be that bitchy at all

Try weed. It tends to focus me at the table — I play fewer hands and actually watch the hands I fold play out. I don't win any more often, but I probably lose less.

Yeah, I haven't watched this in a long time but that always seemed to me to be the most ridiculous thing. Like, Matt Damon is so good at poker he can put everyone in a stud game on their exact hands without seeing the action, but somehow nobody's ever noticed this incredibly glaring tell that, it would seem, Teddy's

All these things are like The Aristocrats of the internet, except not as good or interesting.

Good coffee, Marv.

Maybe. Agreed that the underseasoning was a mistake that could have been avoided, but it seemed like Bev got a huge advantage being handed Nyesha's thoughtful ingredients, while Nyesha got screwed with a table full of things she didn't want or was uncomfortable using. Plus she had to clean Bev's station? Come on.

I haven't read this whole thread, but..from my recollection of The Conversation (saw it once about 5 years ago, also SPOILERS), the final playback of the tape sounds so much different from every other time we hear it that it kind of ruined the whole movie for me. Really was enjoying it, and then there's that final

Then as the kids are dying, their mom suddenly runs in, having changed her mind about the whole thing, but it's too late, and as the kids sink to the floor, the last thing they see is future Ted introducing himself to the horrified, screaming mother. And that's how they meet.

I read through this whole board and I feel like this is going to be an unpopular comment, but this episode actually made me sour on Beverly. It just strikes me that so many people who have worked with her have complained, chefs who otherwise seem easy to get along with. I think I remember even Nyesha griping about her
