Happy Birthday, Steve Shelley (b. June 23, 1962)

June Carter Cash (June 23, 1929 – May 15, 2003)

I heard the end of the "Scourge of God" clue right after I'd gotten home. Since I knew it, I assumed they would. I shouldn't make assumptions. Day before yesterday, a new coworker typed "not with standing" instead of "notwithstanding."

Gorillaz started out when Son of Isis was 14, and he always liked them (still does, I imagine). I associate "Clint Eastwood" with his distinctive walk (he'd just had a growth spurt at that time, and he was adjusting to being 6'+).

She went back home after the ER visit. My brother and youngest sister (local to them) will get her to her previously-scheduled appointment this afternoon.

Happy Birthday, Cyndi Lauper (b. June 22, 1953)

"Pistol Pete" Maravich (June 22, 1947 – January 5, 1988)

Those of you who read my posts over the weekend, my mother was discharged from the hospital yesterday, and then ended up in ER again last night. My brother's 10:30 p.m. text ended with "If y'all don't hear anything else from me, assume she's being treated and is well." He didn't text later, so I'll assume things

The title song:

Thank you.

Happy Birthday, Brian Wilson (b. June 20, 1942)

Thank you.

My mother was doing better than I expected, but not so great. Osiris left the room a few times; he was reminded too much of his mother's decline. People at that hospital are compelled to wish men "Happy Father's Day" - neither Osiris nor my brother has kids, but they were both wished "Happy Father's Day" once or twice.

Next week's challenge from listener Mark Isaak of Sunnyvale, Calif.: Think of a word that means "unfinished." Add one letter at the start and one letter at the end, and you'll get a new word that means the opposite of the first. What words are these?

If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled. - C.H. Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 – January 31, 1892)

I believe that if, at the end of it all, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to
