Yeah, agreed. For all that S1 is undeniably the weakest of the lot, it's still quite enjoyable on its own merits. The only episode I really don't care for is Born To Be King, and even that one has its moments.

A few random points/comments/casting notes:

Anne Elk is almost certainly Cleese's most hilarious drag role. Most of the female characters played by the Pythons are just variations on the Pepperpots - with certain exceptions such as the housewives portrayed by Idle, Palin and Jones in the Meaning of Life's Death sequence - but Anne Elk is definitely in a

…fat German businessmen pretending to be acrobats…

My theory is that the brontosaurus is thin at one end, much, much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the other end.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The Edmund Blackadder of series 1 is often characterized as being stupid, but that's not quite accurate. He's dorkish, has a losing personality (to say the least), and is far more cowardly than all the other Blackadders combined, but while he's capable of some genuinely

Other casting tidbits of note: Howard Lew Lewis, who played Mr. Applebottom in tQoSB (and another peasant in Witchsmeller Pursuivant) was Rabies, one of the Merry Men in Tony Robinson's Maid Marion kiddie show. He also had a role in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, apparently.

"The Pythons were so gloriously precise with their language."

Shut your festering gob, ya tit!

Sorry. But I love money. All money. I've always wanted money…To fondle! To touch! The smell of the rain-washed florin! The glitter and glory of the guinea! The feel of the franc! The heel of the deutsche mark! The cold and deceptive sting of the Australian dollar!

"Are You There, Grumpy Cat? It's Me, Chelsea," the heartwarming tale of how Grumpy Cat saves Xmas from the evil machinations of his arch-nemesis, Frumpy Cat.

They should do a feature length version of the Bergman-esque film Joan made for school.

MAKEOVER!!!!!!!!

So, any guesses as to who (or what) "Daddy" is? I wouldn't have thought Skye's snooze-inducing origin plot would have interested me in the least, but I have to admit the brief look we got at him apparently bathing in blood was suitably creepy, and it's got me curious.

The end scene where poor Lee Evans has to throw his arms around the Doctor and shriek "I LOVE YOU!!!" seriously irritated the hell out of me. I (mostly) liked Tennant in the role, his weaknesses notwithstanding, and the same goes for RTD's efforts on the show running end, but moments like that just take me out of

Damn shame. I always liked Bob Hoskins. A very workmanlike and unpretentious actor. I thought he would have made a terrific Penguin in Chris Nolan's Batman universe.

I do believe they're setting the stage for the Big Reveal of the real mastermind behind all of the naughtiness and evil-doings and what-not. Peter Parker's Aunt May will soon be unmasking herself as the worst supervillain of all: DARK MAY.

It's not a mustache. It's Talbot's pet caterpillar, Reggie.

I think this episode would have been much improved if, instead of her super freak out upon discovering Ward is HYDRA, Skye blurted out some startled guffaws, which then turns into snickering, which escalates into wild cackling, and finally ends with her screaming with insane laughter at the top of her lungs. This

Hilarious episode. Tammy's such a nasty piece of work, it's always a pleasure to see the Belcher kids torment her.
