Haha I'm actually a big Landis fan myself (I own American Alien and have seen all his films except Frankenstein) and agree with everything you said. There's no doubt he put in the effort to get to where he is today, which is why charges of nepotism make no sense to me - especially in comparison with other successful…
Funny how the people who complain Landis is the product of nepotism never say that with guys like Duncan Jones, Max Brooks and Joe Hill…
His name was Robert Paulsen
Ummmm, his weave???
Yeah I think the twist is crucial to, and enhances the plot. Like why else would mysterious monsters terrorize a tiny frontier town? You'd have to throw in some high fantasy mumbo jumbo at the very least
Even if I were to try hallucinogens, I don't think I'd have as transcendent an experience as hearing "Baba O'Riley" for the first time
Here just to add username synergy
Is there a better version of American Gods? For all the research Gaiman apparently put into it, the mythology and characterizations were totally lacking. The book was basically just "Whoa, Americana is really weird" with a supernatural twist.
Yeah reading Leviathan Wakes after watching Season 1 felt kinda sparse without Avasarala in the mix. The show has been moving really slowly through the books, which actually works really well ( a la the early seasons of GoT), but there's so much action that happens later on that I can't wait to see onscreen
Yeah, based on the trailer for season 2, I'm wondering if the last scene was one of Eddie's hallucinations
Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that Season 2 dragged at times and that the Tyrell Wellick plot was overly drawn out, but there were some great moments throughout. As it stands, I think season 3 has a ton of potential - I'm very curious how they'll handle the election (as the show inevitably gets more Newsroom-ified)
Mr. Robot, anyone? Or does the thought of American socioeconomic meltdown caused by hacking hit too close to home?
Kinda nervous about the show setting up the cult as the True Religion…
Such a great podcast
I'm just skeptical of NPH doing T-Rex arms as well as Jim Carrey
Well, Klosterman is notorious for posing questions without drawing satisfying conclusions. But the central point of the book is that trying to forecast specifics of the future is a fool's errand. If anything, it's an interesting lens by which to view the present, that the pop culture we value now may well be…
Damn, I read Klosterman's But What If We're Wrong? over the summer and I had no idea how prophetic its premise would be of this election season…
Hey I hear ya - my partner insists that Atlas Shrugged: Pt 1 and 50 Shades of Grey are good movies
