I haven't seen these episodes in a while (I remember generally enjoying them at the time), but I can see where the reviewer,  looking at the episodes in today's context, can find some things lacking.  In 1997-98, there wasn't any Adult Swim, no internet like we have today, and the unique asset the show was putting out

H.O.R.D.E. Festival reference — good God, a 1992 memory just burped up in my mind.  Big Head Todd and the Monsters forever!

Fun episode, though I noticed at about 40 minutes in, Michael dropped his dumb guy accent when he was driving with Wes.  Thought it was going to be a plot point.  Guess not.

Those weren't jokes.  If you read the transcript to Rush's site linked in the article, he already acknowledges that other sources were talking about this, which was the very reason he commented on it in the first place.

O'Neal's link to Rush's transcript today referenced other sources already talking about it.  O'Neal even provided a link to the Democrat Party operative quoted on record as trying to make this connection.

This snark makes no sense.  You're calling out Limbaugh for calling out others who have brought up this connection.  Why not make fun of the ones who were actually trying to make this connection?

I do detect a bit of defensiveness in this response.

I realize this is a limited episode series and time is short, but this opening episode contains numerous violations fo the "show, don't tell" rule.  From the opening segment, we get people telling us who these people are and their background, before we even get a chance to experience it.  There are other lines like

So I see Mr. Monster has been vacillating between calling cookies a "sometime food" in front of the kids and going on an all-out bender here for us.  As always, moderation is the key.

Not having the DVDs or a station that plays classic Simpsons, I got this one mixed up with the other episode this season with Homer in a hospital:  "A Simpsons Clip Show".  If memory serves, it's a clip show.

Nelson's science fair entry "Why are you hitting yourself?" and the "Is this Uter?" entry.  These were the only things I laughed at the entire episode.  Plus, Burns unloads a "what the deuce?" line.  For an episode already channeling material from another animated series…it was depressing.
