Plenty of voters voted for Trump for his bigotry. They weren't conned.

There really isn't a textbook definition of fascism—as Eco states, it's a family resemblance. Nazism was different from Mussolini's Fascism which was different from Falangism which was different from the BUF, etc.

That few young folk support Trump is my main hope that fascism will not succeed in America.

They've always been spreading hate around, but not to this extent. Trump has emboldened them. I didn't used to have Jewish friends regularly being told they belonged in ovens.

Voter suppression and the Electoral College are two of the most important reasons Trump is president. Both worked as intended.

Camus and Sartre would be offended for being confused with one another! ;)

That was amazing. Now, however, I'm convinced they are in Purgatory, working to become suitable for the actual Good Place.

Don't you mean Sartre? "Hell is other people" is from No Exit.

Did you miss where Carson is black?

She had a child in 2015 so that may be part of it.

I know! It was (mostly) a joke.

One of the worst thing about our language of left and right, as well as the term progressive, is the idea there are only two poles in politics. That's a major reason, I think, that we find it bizarre that progressives can be racist, sexist, etc. But really it shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Have you gotten involved in local politics? I've started attending local Democratic meetings and they are so happy to have anyone attend them.

In his defense, the only time Trump went to black neighbors as a kid was to burn crosses with his dad.

Many are still attacking him.

I thought this was a good one too.

I need to re-watched Sky Captain. That and John Carter are two films which were a tremendous amount of fun and deserved more love.

Ha!

Ludivine Sagnier is in this? I've had a crush on her since watching "8 Women" and "Swimming Pool." Now I need to watch this.
