Real Eleanor's declaration seemed sudden to me too, but then I remembered she was in the Bad Place. I imagine she actually has a lot of trauma from there and wants to fit into the Good Place as quickly as she can.

The cop was great. I also loved how he said Jason was the brains behind the operation and got pretty much what he deserved.

Thanks! I was wondering what book that was.

I'm not entirely sure Russia has to have anything on Trump. He seems to simply like dictators and violence, e.g. his approval of Duterte killing drug addicts and China cracking down on Tiananmen.

When it comes to his supporters, he's right.

Honestly, I'm all for banning guns at this point (with perhaps rare permits for those who truly need them). It won't happen anytime soon, but that's the only solution that will really work.

I really wish they didn't. :(

Since W was elected twice and Republicans were only briefly not in control of Congress (and let's not get into state governments), I can't tell whether or not that is sarcastic.

Almost certainly over-thinking things, but Chidi's inability to decide reminded me of one of my favorite parts of the Summa—Question 82, Article 4, Objection 3:

It is on NBC.

I don't think Chidi is trying to absolve himself of blame, but it's definitely something I do in real life. It annoys even me.

Also, the woman was arrested! The system worked!

Kind of depressing, but fighting for voting rights is one of the most important fights at the moment. It's especially depressing because here, more than anywhere, it's the GOP and not Trump which has taken the lead in destroying them.

"what the fuck were you thinking?"

"It was also advertised that Quincy Jones would attend Trump's bash. No one bothered to tell Quincy Jones."

But Trump should be uncharismatic! I honestly don't get how anyone likes the guy.

"What happens to the world when most of the people in power reject basic reality?"

I'm half-convinced that opposing DoJ investigations is a major reason people voted for Trump. Certainly when I've talked to Trump supporters, one of the first things they mention is how bad BLM is.

"I think all of us learned from the last terrible presidency"
